adsense niche sites not worth it?

Who would be crazy enough to build a business around an ad service that can yank the plug at any time without any prior notice?

Personally, I hate the idea of not having control over my income.

Adsense is a good complimentary source of income, but building adsense only websites is a dead end road.

This is exactly the problem with adsense making money strategy! Your entire operation relies on Google.

Imagine if they make a change that has a significant negative impact on your sites, or if you made one wrong move and somehow got penalized even when you're not at fault, it's game over! You don't have any control over their process and Google doesn't care about you since your sites are not real companies or anything. Suddenly all that hard work you put in during the course of 5-6 months is now down the drain. What are you gonna do? Spend another 5-6 months to build more sites? Not to mention new competitors may pop up and try to outrank you on your keywords or get your sites sandboxed.

Adsense is too unpredictable and unreliable in my opinion, it's like a never-ending guessing game that you're forever a chaser. If it requires only minimal effort then I guess it would be okay but that is not the case.

It sounds like the OP has a number of issues that they have yet to learn or are outright rejecting.

* The first issue of course is proper Keyword Research. Based on the numbers you presented, you don't know what OCI is. Learn it or else you will suffer. Also, you want to grasp Niche Research. Again, if you forsake these two areas, or refuse to master them, you might as well raise the IM white flag right now.

* The second issue is gaining the proper insights on how to rank medium competitive to highly competitive keywords. If you don't learn this, and want to stick with non-competitive keywords, prepare to row upstream without a paddle.

* The third issue is, many AdSense publishers are quietly making a killing. These individuals have a system that works and they are smart enough not to publish or sell their system on any forum or otherwise post it. If you want to learn what works and then master it, you have to be committed. If you are the type that throws the towel in when met with fierce opposition, AdSense is not for you. The truth be told, in the MM niches, you will have to go to combat with the big dawgs. If you are not prepared for that with Link Velocity, Link Diversity, Link Obfuscation, Link Blasts and Link Dripping, again, you will be crushed.

Don't let anyone full you; SEO is WAR! Come armed with the right weapons or get blown away, LOL!

:rocketwho

* The forth issue, stop ranting and start learning!

Adsense is still a big part of my business and is profitable for me. With that said - the key to a flourishing SEO business is diversification. Adsense should be one chunk of the pie. Also, don't feel like every website should utilize one monetization method. Spread out your risk and use the programs that are available across your whole business.

If you spend money to get the site done (backlinks, articles, etc), then I would say it's worth it. But I have been working on one site completely manual for a month and a half, and its only now in the #10 spot. However, I got a $3.00 click a few days back, so its all good.

The key is not just scaling, but economical scaling. Economical in time, money AND effort terms. To make anything decent you have to scale, but you have to treat it like a business. Scale it as efficiently as you can. Be your own accountant and write down every expense in terms of money AND time for each step, calculate the cost per site and then try to cut the fat. Decide where it would be better to outsource and where you're going to have to do it yourself. Use Excel. Putting it all on paper really helps.

I can't help but be frustrated.

I think I've spent close to $1000 on internet marketing stuff. And maybe 20 hours per week for about 3 months working on this stuff and writing articles.

The costs involved hosting/domains/software/services and one stupid expensive training program that was shit ($300).

It's pretty sad to see zero return. Not only am I frustrated, but I am also afraid of continuing to drain more of my money and time into something that's not working for me :(

All I have to show for it are 3 niche sites that aren't even ranked in the top 5 positions. I had one keyword rank #7 at its highest (it's now google dancing on the second page) and the rest of my keywords and niches are on the second page.

Fuck.

It is definitely worth it. I am in the process of building a niche site army, and I have it down to each site not costing me more than $20 - $30 a site and then I forget about it for a little bit. It really is a numbers game, and sure I have some flops, but I also am getting sites to the first page and even top 5 within a month and they are earning nicely. I think I may sell off a couple for a little extra x-mas money.

Here is my advice....with niche sites, there is a surprising amount of free information out there! Study what the big players in the game are doing and work out your own strategy. There is plenty of cheap quality content out there, or if you are boot strapping, write it yourself. You can do this on a budget! If you do good keyword research and take action, you will be getting that first check in no time!

Lol, I ordered a single MNS and I haven't even received it yet. This thread makes me happy, mainly because as a 14 year old, $50/month is fine. ;]
Mainly because I can basically get a $50 game every year, and that's fine with me.

CPC which Google AdWords tool shows is the amount which Advertiser pays to Google(Not Us) for a click.

So,the share is around 70%-30%.

So,you are never going to get the CPC value for a click. So,what you are getting(0.25,0.50) is natural.

Just target few long tails and build some more Micro Niche Sites and you will be fine.

A single site is never going to through big Bucks

The faster you fail, the faster you'll succeed.

Mistakes that you've made are priceless. Trust me.

You now know that some things just dont work. Experiment different things, niches, Different type of linkbuilding, different themes, different style of articles, keyword density, different niche keywords, different type of monetization.

Test, test and test again.

In my experience, IM is testing till you get a good recipe. Maybe you need more butter, maybe you need more milk or one more egg.

Once you find a good patern just copy it.

Identify your strenght. According to what you say, you're maybe not the best SEOer. Just outsource it. If you're a good writter then blast the shit out your website.

You wont hit the jackpot overnight.

Good luck :)

I see too many "what ifs". People saying, don't use Adsense, cause what if they ban you tomorrow. I don't really get that.

What if the world were to end tomorrow?

People are making a killing with Google. If you follow the rules, it's a great stream of income.

You will get a 5% CTR if you choose and informative keyword but if you choose a buying keyword you will get 20 to 25%. Stay away from informative keywords!

For example, If you decide to create a website on a "how to" keyword your adsense CTR will suck big time! but if you choose let say "blue contacts" people will be more likely to click on your ads because they are looking to buy blue contacts.

Well, for starters it depends on how much the sites are making per day. And some can make a lot depending on a number of factors.

Here is a service you might want to view --its about quantity--
