AdBlock Detected: What You Need To Know About AdBlockers & BHW

If you receive this error message or you regularly use an ad blocker, it's important that you read this thread before you continue using Black Hat World.

Those of you using ad blockers may have noticed that certain features on the site stop working. For example, you may have noticed that links may not work or images don't load.

There are a couple of options you have if you keep encountering this error:
  1. Add blackhatworld.com to your ad blocker's white list. We recommend doing this if you'd like to continue using your ad blocker on other websites.
  2. Disable your ad blocker temporarily. This is more of an option for those of you who use ad blockers with a "pause" functionality.
  3. Enable your ad blocker to work only on specific sites. This is great if you have an ad blocker only for specific websites.
  4. Disable your ad blocker indefinitely. If all else fails and you don't have a pause button on your ad blocker, you can just outright disable it.
  5. For Kaspersky users: disable “Antibanner” and “Data collection protection”
  6. Check your apps: Some applications, such as NordVPN, will have a "web protection" feature that functions similarly to an ad block.
If you keep experiencing issues either with our ad block detection or the site's functionality, open a support ticket using support.blackhatworld.com so that one of our support agents can assist you further.

Depends on the browser you're using. If you use chrome on android then you might have ads under site settings turned off. That might be what the forum is picking up. We can help you out better on the support desk if you open a support ticket.
 
I disabled the Ad Blocker, and there are ten ads on this small thread, all flashing different texts and colors.
BHW doesn't feel the same with these many ads popping up.
IDM video download options are everywhere. At least allow the paid users to disable these annoying ads.

Nvm, I already fixed these annoying ads.

I think I have seen this with a member forgot his name and seen this happening with me too, with no ad block installed on safari the ad locker sign shows up but on refresh disappears. It could be a false positive.

Note it doesn’t happen everyday just out of the blues it may happen. But the site functions well without a refresh too. Just sharing here if you’ll want to recreate it at your end but for now I don’t see this as a big issue, will keep you’ll posted if it happens way more frequently and effects my sites usage.

One more thing I don’t get that banner you’ll put up, next time I’ll try taking a screenshot.

Ps ad lockers are fun on those sites loading intersitals type ads, using ad blocker is very bad support the forum guys!!!
 
You should also mention in the thread that some apps such as NordVPN have:

"Web Protection" which also intereferes and is detected by BHW as adblocker, needs to be disabled. Spent 30 min wondering what is happening, until i realised this. @Zwielicht

What types of ads are shown on BHW is it custom ads or Adsense? The number of fraud ads I've seen on Adsense is enormous lately so I block Adsense.

But this post just made me turn off Adblock because ads that are actually relevant for me could possibly benefit me.

They're custom ads. A potential advertiser contacts our advertising department here and asks, then goes through the review process (similarly to anyone who submits a marketplace thread here). If they pass the review, they submit banners or text for us to review to make sure it meets our standards.

The system isn't perfect, although it seems to work out quite well for BHW.

This is not an option, as members that pay for banner space would lose out if this were the case. We generally try to keep the banner ads as unobtrusive as we can and they are manually reviewed to prevent undesirable advertisements on the forum, so we believe that there is minimal impact to the user's experience on the forum.

There shouldn't be any difference browsing the forum on an Android device compared to any other browser. If you have a more specific question that you need an answer to, please feel free to contact support to ask.
 
Many thanks to members in this category. The "AdBlock Detected" popup, which has plagued me for weeks and prevented me from logging in, has finally been removed, at least for now. The secret was disabling my VPN, in this case Proton on my Samsung browser. Again, many many thanks to one and all.
