And if you are using it for your own purposes you also don't need to fix any input bugs. Makes development at least 10x faster. The OP is right not to pursue a career in IT. Unless you command a bunch of minions to do the actual code creation after you instruct them to make you a dll or whatever, it pays very little in comparison to what the boss and the clients are making. I already can't stand the thought of battling with some rogue api for 2 weeks and get measly 1-2k at the end of the day. The stress is just too much. But yeah, it is important that you can do it yourself before even thinking of using others. Just like the CEO of Walmart knows how to operate a cash register I guess.

One argument against outsourcing is idea stealing btw.

I have kept this journal since April. I have been very open with my ideas and tried my best to give to the community some insight into the programming aspect of SEO applications.

I have worked on planning this software since January, and worked on it far longer than since April. In total, the development costs in planning and execution for this software has run me a total of $15,000 since I'm currently the only desktop programmer on the small team that I run. While this may be jokes and games to you, this is my business.

I simply asked Green Goblin if he had taken my idea from this thread, he said he did not. I asked him how it is his UI, macro function, and overall function of his program matches mine exactly. In wordage and layout. He, and his developer told me that they had gotten it from another program they developed. When I asked them both in the thread, and eventually in private PM's to send me examples of the software they developed in the past to just simply put the issue to rest, admit I was wrong, and we could both go about our days, he told me that he talked to his uncle who is a lawyer and he isn't going to send me anything.

I have been nothing but reasonable here. All I wanted was proof that I was not being stolen from. Not just "blackhat" stolen from, but legitimately stolen from. I've said it in this thread before, but this is my full time job. This is my means of money, and I would like at least credit for an idea that has taken me months for development, and some kid on a board feels he has the right to take it.

Whatever, continue joking. I'm going to continue my development and handle this through the right mediums. I just want to know that I'm not being stolen from, and if we need to play this little legal game of lawyer back and fourth instead of just showing me you had this idea originally, it is fine with me.

I did send them a PM, and they posted the response of the PM in the thread, which of course is going to get me to reply there. Its easy to gang up with more than one person, of course. Stop trying to turn reality around to make someone who has, in my mind taken something, and make them the victim in this situation. This was a simple question that has been blown out of proportion.

Well, I thank you for that link. I likely didn't get to see it because I was dealing with them in pms after a mod had deleted the post. I'm not worried about competition. I just wanted to make sure that someone was taking something that has been hard work for me and selling it as their own idea. I support a free market of programs, and feel strong in my software's ability to pull its own weight.

I don't feel it was legitimate nor welcomed to immediately tell me I'm stupid and blah blah blah. I searched what I was told to in order to try to trace the source of their idea, and they were telling me software that doesnt exist anywhere. Understand my skepticism when this is what I'm told. Can you see how similar these are and why that would lead me to assuming this? While that is indeed a major coincidence, I just wanted to understand the situation fully before escalating this to anyone beyond the developer.

Either way, my mistake, you've given me all I was asking for both in PMs and in that thread that neither developer was willing to give me.

You seem like a good guy and it was wrong of me coming here and bashing your thread. Glad things are sorted out now and once again, best of luck with your software.

I hope you will provide a low cost trial for it because I would very much like to try it once it is ready

Now that we proven that we made it first, how would you feel if we bash this thread that you copied the idea from us? You attacked right away on our thread without doing a research first. You could have done it via pm first. Accept your mistake, dont give other reasons like we didnt answer you etc. You didnt deserve an answer in the first place, let alone to post false accusations on a public thread.

Well, I did do research before posting that thread. You can't hold me too accountable for not searching well enough and missed a single post where you had posted a UI screenshot, by someone other than posting this new thread. I understood the weight of what I was talking about, and tried my best to read into this before saying anything. I only attacked because when I mentioned how similar these programs were, you started calling me stupid and I don't know anything blah blah blah. Do you expect me to know what you're doing? Ive never seen or heard much of anything about that particular software.

While I agree I probably should have PMmed Goblin first. I will admit that mistake. However, this was a really simple issue that could have been resolved easily and made me look like a fool by posting that link rather than directing me to some other software that is not listed anywhere on the internet. While you're not obligated to do this, it would have saved both of us time and effort in the long run.

edit: What you've shown is that what you're creating is an original idea and the similarity between these programs is obviously a coincidence. I figure we're both using the same means to an end and there is no reason to bicker. This was obviously a misunderstanding on both of our parts. I was not trying to be hostile when I posted in that thread, I just wanted you to tell me it wasnt taken and point me to some thread that showed some level of development. This is clearly a mistake, so understand my position and see where I'm coming from, and ask yourself how I may feel seeing this. Truce and all that, I wish you the best of luck on your software and I'm sure if you and I talked rather than let this little misunderstanding burn a bridge, we may both learn something and help eachother in the end.

Just a thought, like I said in the other thread, I'm a pragmatic person, and try my best to remain reasonable.

You should understand what I felt when you posted that, as youre a programmer yourself. I worked hard for it and someone just posted I copied it. But anyway, its cool now. Good luck with your software, its looking good already.

That's a fair point and I respect that, I apologize for that. Glad to have gotten this worked out on a reasonable level. This has restored some level of my faith in humanity, so it wasn't all for nothing I suppose? haha. Anyway, to make up for the misunderstanding, if you guys need anything or once I finish this, if you're interested in some advertising on my software blog, send me a PM and I'll post a link to your site or something.

I'm back! I haven' gotten nearly any software finished lately. I spent some time out of town and have been working on some extra projects. However, this isn't dead! I'm still working on it and will continue to post updates from today forward. I've gotten a lot of messages with interest in this and I'm happy to see that. I am nearing the absolute final build of this software, and will have a beta out within the month. I am absolutely slammed with work lately. Using some simple software that took me a little bit to write, I'm up to $70+/day offering services to the SEO industry. Going from nothing to $70/day without even releasing anything is fantastic! Looking forward to future things that I'll be able to do with these methods.

Thanks for following the thread, everyone, and I appologize for the lack of updates. I'm a bit tired and I will post a far more detailed update with some things I've updated recently, specifically my thread handling system some time tomorrow.

Any update lad? What are you doing for proxies? I was thinking of instead of going down the SOCKS route, to make my own proxy client (Mono) which customers could 'distribute' themselves. Could even spawn a little industry?
