Preface:
I've been lurking around BHW for a little bit now and have been inspired by the My Journey To XXXX a month. So, I'd like to share my small experiment with you guy as well.
Intro:
Before I dive into my plan, I'd like to give you all a little background, I'm currently thinking about dropping out of college but before I take the plunge, I thought it would be nice to have an extra source of income other than my regular day job (IT) and freelance consultant. The extra money would be useful for paying off some student and saving for a down payment on an apartment building which could bring in income if I leverage the credit right.
So What am I doing:
I'm starting a simple tube site as an experiment and a learning opportunity for SEO, IM, and their marketing strategies. I'm using Digital Ocean (DO) as my host since it's what use on a regular basis, I think they allow porn on their servers but, I'm not too sure about that. For a CMS I'll be using WordPress with a WP-Script theme and their WP-Script Core.
What I've done so far:
So far I've set up the WordPress site with the script and theme, it wasn't too hard since I had a little bit background in CS and some help from DO. After that, I began to look into advertisers I ended settling on two that I think will work well in the short run. However, I'd like to find some high CPM advertisers that pay in bitcoin so that the money stays anonymous. For videos, I've simply been embedding them on the website and using Hubtraffic as another revenue stream. Other than that I've done some minimal SEO work, but I'm waiting to see if I can least break even before my semester ends. Otherwise I'll have to rethink my strategy.
How Much I've Invested:
At the time of posting this, I'm about two days in and have around $70 invested in this project. The majority of the $70 went to buying WP-Script and a theme. At first, I thought about using a cracked theme, but got turned off by its bugginess so; I switched over to their new Core Script which was ~$45 and one of their themes for $25. Hosting I get for free for a few months since I have an EDU account with DO. I plan to invest more but I feel that I require some more knowledge before I do.
Conclusion:
I want to get some feedback on this plan, I know it's bare bones, but I want to see if I can least break even before I go full force on this venture and if anyone else has had any success with something like this. I'll update this thread as I make progress on this journey!

- Further Refine Niche
- Search for higher CPM advertisers
- Invest in other onsite advertising methods
- Have tube name be top of google search
- Learn SEO and IM skills
- Generate positive net income
