5000 visitors in 10 hours, no sales

A couple of days ago I launched my first product on Clickbank. I haven’t been able to promote it yet because I’m still trying to set everything up correctly. Didn’t know this can get so overwhelming.

Anyway, I’ve also noticed that a lot of affiliates have already visited my site and created hoplinks – some are already driving traffic to it. Yesterday, however, I got a massive surge of traffic from one affiliate. When I checked my analytics, it showed me that there were around 30-50 visitors on my site at that moment. Because I noticed this very late in the evening, I went to sleep soon after that.

When I checked my traffic today, I noticed that this guy had driven around 5000 visitors to my site in the course of 10 hours: over 5200 hops. However, no order form impressions, no order form server calls. So, no sales! By taking a closer look at the traffic, I noticed that the average time on page was around 33 seconds. So, the visitors probably abandoned the site immediately?

Anyway, my question is this: has someone else experienced something like this before?

I’m assuming he wanted to test my sales page by sending untargeted traffic to it to see if it converts. But 5200 hops and not even one order form impression? I’m in a very specific niche, but this just seems weird.

It also has been suggested to me that this might have been a DDoS attack, but I have plugins installed on all of my sites and they usually recognize attacks from bots and block them immediately.

Sounds like the affiliate is a total newb buying fiverr traffic..."5000 REAL HUMAN VISITS IN 24HRS FOR JUST $5!!"""...then he'll come here and complain that clickbank does not work or that they are shaving

Did you test the product with paid traffic for conversions before releasing to affiliates.

This looks like bot traffic to me. Try a small PPC campaign to test, you don’t have to spend alot

Don't worry. That was probably bot-traffic the affiliate bought and redirects it to your site.

At the worst worst case you should at least one of those Ghosts

This happens all the time. As stated above people probably purchased a traffic package off of fivver. Untargeted crap traffic. Things will improve. I like to test my new products with a 5 dollar ad on facebook. Very cheap and you can test your product with real traffic.

No, I haven't even actively searched for affiliates, yet. But this was something I was planning to do. This guy just found my product in the marketplace and started driving traffic to it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking about using bing ads. Haven't even considered using fb.

I mean testing the product yourself to get data this is very important.

Sorry, my answer was a bit confusing. My second sentence was a direct reply to your question: so yes, I'm planning to use bing ads to test my product.

Sounds like the traffic they are sending is shit.

There's a lot of variables here.

Your copy could also be shit.

I wouldn't be able to say without auditing your funnel.

Interested in taking a look at the salespage?

You just need to split test. There are many sources of traffic both free and paid. Both can be good and both can be bad. It's really all about testing and seeing what works for you.

Don't be discouraged my man, you've already launched your product so the hardest part is done.
As others have already said, it's more than likely bot traffic from some newbie affiliate.
You need to network a bit or open a JV thread on BHW if you want good affiliates.

Thanks for the tip. I actually already have a good source of free traffic. It's not much, but at least it's a constant source of traffic. Just have to start testing the paid sources.
