Thanks, makes perfect sense.
I normally don't max out anymore due to how many times I've hurt my lower back (mostly thanks to shrugs, not press). But my best press day was 255lb (I'm a short dude at 5' 4", 162lbs). My brother has gotten up to 305, he's a pretty strong dude so 322 is a crazy good lift.
From what I know and have seen, anything over 250 is better than most dudes at the gym. Anything over 300 puts you in the top 5%. Anything over 400 will make everyone at the gym shit their pants. I've only seen it once in my life (in person) which happened to be a powerlifting competition in prison. Some black guy hit 415 natty and raw with no bands, shirt or anything.
The juice heads love to espouse "it ain't a good press unless it's double your weight or more". But I think less than .05% can actually do that.
According to Wiki, the highest raw press is Eric Spoto at 722lbs.
Then
with a shirt is Paul Meeker who hit
1,102lbs or 500kg this past December. That's some crazy crazy shit. Dude basically lifted more than 5, 200lb people or more than half a ton. Only problem I have with the video is I don't see him locking out.
