2 unrelated questions

Hi everyone,

I have 2 random, totally unrelated questions that are bugging me, so here it goes...

1) does anyone know whether DuckDuckGo have been purchased by Google yet? The reason I'm asking this is because until a month or so ago I would usually get different results in DDG vs Google, but lately nearly everything that's ranking on google's 1st page is now ranking on DDG's 1st page. It's too big of a coincidence for a paranoid dude like me to believe that it's just that!

So, does any of you have any intel on this?

2) I know English pretty well (at conversational level anyway) but many times I have problems figuring out the real meaning behind similar words. Like, for example, between the words harbinger and herald. I checked a few English-Romanian online dictionaries and they attribute the same meaning to both these terms, but I don't think that they are similar. I don't know why I think so, but something deep inside tells me that they're not synonyms.

Can someone, please, explain what the difference between these 2 is? Because it's eating at me inside

I'm native English and in over 50 years I've probably used " harbinger or herald. " 3 times each in conversation or written communication. Now 4 times as of today.
