2 questions about Squid server on Ubuntu

1. When I'm trying to connect to the proxy for the first time, even when I provided the password using the System Preferences on my mac account, It shows a modal requesting a username-password to authenticate.
   I've checked the username-password combination multiple times, the things which I've inserted to the System Preferences are same as the one I can enter to that modal and establish the connection.
   I checked that on my iPhone as well, It also shows a modal and asks for a password.
2. I've searched a bunch of places about the anonymity of Squid proxy and I've found out that It's required to re-compile the source code with --enable-http-violation switch to be able to configure it.
   Are there any workarounds for this or It's a path you've guys went already?!

Especially seeing this is a server, it makes perfect sense to let the software running on it be as specific to the hardware as possible.

Listen, now that you're Admin, you have to learn some stuff. Its incumbent on ya!

Why would you run software that is generic on a server when you have the opportunity to make (and save... for all intents) it Custom/Special Software that will run more efficiently on your specifc HW assembly...

Compiling sounds harder that it actually is (its actually the PC doing the hard work after all)..
