Alright first off I want to say that these domain names are registered with co.cc and hosting is with byethost. If you know what these are then you probably know what I am going to say. If you don't then read on...

1. The first thing you need to do is register a domain name. If you are a complete noob a domain name is.. ibangyourmom.com You usually have to buy these. blackhatworld.com has to buy there domain and re-new it every year or so. Now to get free domain names with the ending .co.cc not .com, .com you have to pay for no matter what. But if your good with .co.cc then go to
HTML:
www.co.cc
and register a new account with them. I gave them bullshit information because they don't call to verify or anything. Once you have a new account you go to "getting a new domain" in the top area of the screen. You type in what you want.. "ibangyourmom" and it will say wether or not it is available. If it is click "register" and now you own ibangyourmom.co.cc! Congrats.

2. Secondly you need a web host. This is someone who will run your website for you so that shit appears when people go to ibangyourmom.co.cc. So go to
HTML:
www.byethost.com
and register a new account. Your username can be anything doesn't matter seeing as how you will not be using the domain name they provide. The domain names they provide are very ugly.. "ibangyourmom.byethost12.com" to me that is to long and won't do you any good. When registering you need to use a gmail account, don't ask why but it's just the way they roll. Oh and you need to be in FireFox. Don't ask why its just the way they roll. So once you go to your inbox and confirm e-mail MAKE SURE YOU SAVE ACCOUNT DETAILS. It will say something like "click here to save details" it will open a PDF doc in a new broswer. In the top left you will see the universal symbol for save. Click it. Okay those are your log in details. So, continue to your cPanel and at the "home" page you should see a little thing called domains.. maybe a house? Don't remember. Anyways under that it should say something like "sub-domains, add-on domains, and parked?" Well you want add-on domains. It will ask for the domain name you want to enter. Enter the domain name you got at .co.cc.. "www.ibangyourmom.co.cc". Click add domain. Yay! In 24-48 hours it will be on your byethost account. But WAIT! No it won't. See right below where it says to input domain name.. "name servers" something like 1.byenet.something.. Anyways that's step 3

3. Go back to co.cc and log into your account. Click on "Domain Settings" Once there find the domain you just added to byethost.. and click on it. Then click on setup domain now.. Now click the little circle beside "Name Servers". So you saw the 1.byenet.something.. on your byethost account? Copy and paste as many of those (think there are 5 total) into the name servers boxes and click setup! voila you now have a free domain name and free hosting, it should all work with in 24-48 hours after it propagates.

I would like to let you know that byethost offers fantastico (auto script installer) for free so you can but in a forum board or Word press in two seconds or less. You can also add 50 of these domain names on to your account! This is all the info im going to give you, go google how to upload shit to your FTP etc.

I don't think so, my friends forum was hacked in 24 hours. and he's a hacker !

What?

Speak proper English so I know what you're trying to say.

I'm sorry, but your thread brings nothing new to the table.

You're basicly telling people how to get a free domain name and free hosting... for free.

That's like saying "Hey, let me tell you how you can get a free car! Go to the street. If you find a toy car in the ground, lucky you, it's yours to keep! FOR FREE!!!"

Well it's for noobs looking for a decent domain that they can fire up word press on with ease and have no problems with. So I wouldn't say that it's useless because I have seen tons of posts on where to get free hosting from a "newbie" and does it have fantastico etc.. so I thought I was helping. But whatever, take what you want from it.

Yeah.. look at the thread title, exactly what I'm doing, what's your point?

total waste of time and energy. sub domains are nothing but toys. You can play with them but do not you think playing is too much costly in terms of time.

You cant master anything on the 1st try, unless you're like an internet/pc god, which are one in a million, so you have to play around and tinker with WP and other functions before you can actually move on to a real .com domain and start driving traffic to it and actually make some money off of it. I know it sounds like a total waste of time, but you gotta test the water, make sure you're not going to hit rock bottom when you jump in.

So in other words, thanks for the post Zach.p, very resourceful. And I'm sure other newbs will find this post helpful and useful.

Finally someone who understands who the post was directed towards. This is a great set-up for a nub trying to start a blog, or needs a landing page and doesn't want to pay for a real domain.. whatever! If you don't want to spend the money this is the alternative.

hahaha. Did any of you even bother to read the OP's post? You won't be using a subdomain. You get to use your own domain name from co.cc. Gah, try reading his full post before you start making judgements. And thanks for posting the info, OP. I'm sure many will find it useful.

I got 2 .coms and a month of real hosting with hostgator both for 1 cent. How's that to start testing things? I believe a month is enough time to learn how to cover 1 cent and pay for the next month of the server...

Taken from wikipedia:
The .cz.cc, .co.cc, cc.cc & uni.cc domains are not official TLDs. They are used for free URL redirection services

I'm not saying the OPs post is not usefull, I'm saying that the original title was misleading and what he says is so beaten up in this forum I think it was not worth mentioning it.

Well it's not just a redirection service my friend. They work as real websites to..

It's a joke.. I'm Canadian and people around the world hold a stereotype that Canadians say eh.. But obviously you missed that.

I found this post really informative..
Needed something quick and easy to test a CPA redirect wordpress plugin. It's perfect.

Thank you!

Very, Very noob.

And BTW byethost is the best, but i had nightmares with em'. :-x

And BTW .co.cc is not search engine friendly, so later you may regret taking em. I use them just for cloaking/redirection purposes ;)

No matter what you say, .co.cc is NOT a domain but a subdomain.
But I recognize this will help newbies. :)

Ignore the critics OP, I thought this was a useful post for any noob who doesn't know this. And for all those who say this is obvious, it isn't, I have helped established members out with hosting and domains because they had none.

Just because something is obvious to you doesn't mean it is for everyone. And thanks to the OP for typing this all up step by step, some of us are grateful of contributions, no matter how small.

thanks Zach It is useful for noobs .
Come on guys give him a go he is just trying to help , He has being thanked 107 times so he sure knows his stuff.
and he also helped me alot at the past .

Keep up the good work buddy
