Create a PBN in 2025 / 2026, still worth it ?

I think it depends on how many sites you manage, because maintaining a network for just one website may not make sense.

I'd add that networks often burn not because of hosting footprints but because of domains with a dirty past, so before buying scroll through Wayback for all the years, not just the latest snapshot

Do you think building your own PBN is still worth it?
Would you put the effort and money nowadays into building your own?
And if so, would you use it only for your websites or also do sponsored articles for others?
PBN still works, however, Google gets better at detecting them, and one mistake in the footprinting process (identical hosting, identical writing, weak websites with outgoing links) may lead to disqualification of the entire network.

The price becomes quite expensive – aged domains, hosting, content creation, maintenance, and nothing is guaranteed in the end.

It should be considered only if you are using disposable/affiliate sites for testing purposes, and you have experience in avoiding footprints.

No one who knows what they're doing builds pbns with expired domains, lol.
Expired domains retain their link juice and authority. Building PBN with new domains or expiring ones doesn’t mean expired ones are inferior. Traditionally, PBN are built with expired domains that have not been spammed. The important thing is to ensure that the expired domains are clean and have good referring domains.

People have been asking if PBNs are dead every single year for a decade, yet the top of the SERPs in tough niches is still full of them.

I own at this point over 1000 auction domains. 7 figures of inventory.

I know the game :-)

I didn't say expired domains don't retain, but there are no good expired domains. Heck, back when I used to dabble with them in 2014-2015 they were still weak compared with auction.

You're not finding any DR 35 with 300 RDs expired let alone a DR 60 with 1500 RDs.

I don't touch anything under 100 RDs and DR 20.

Definitely, you are not going to get expired domains in the region of 40 DR (and mind you, this can be manipulated easily), but it doesn’t mean "there are no good expired domains." Actually, you can find pristine expired domains and people are looking for them everyday.

I run a SaaS with a focus on finding good expired domains. People are grabbing available good expired domain everyday, and I say this based on available data. Many expired domains that entered our inventory are snapped up quickly and we show this live on our site. This just show people still value expired domains for their SEO and other needs.

Perhaps using expired domains didn’t work for you, for others it is still golden.

I'm not saying it doesn't work.

I just operate in ultra competitive niches, so I stick with the monsters :-)

If you want to monetize a publisher network, sponsored content can make sense, I’d rather invest in building relationships with relevant publishers and earning placements on real sites with an actual audience though.

Imo, it's still worth it, if you're picking up clean domains and managing network properly. use it for own sites and sponsored posts too, but only on quality, niche-relevant sites and there no point turning it into link farm.

PBNs worth it , of course they do. If not , why we are talking about it in 2026?

The game has changed becasue there are a lot of competitors in the niche. You need to find a good PBN providers before building your own. If you go into sellers , check their feedbacks and BST reviews.
