Hey BHW Gang,

I have seen many websites ranking without being their Technical SEO great. I am talking about Site Speed, SSR, Sitemap, Robots txt but still their site ranks well on google and in AI as well.

What are you opinion on a new website or a older of Technical SEO. Does it really worth it? What are your thoughts on this?
Site speed is definitely a thing because if it is too low, you risk your potential customers to bounce off from your website/blog.

What do you think about site speed do you think that really matters
Yeah site speed definitely matters but I wouldn’t say a fast site automatically has better chances to rank. It’s more about the overall user experience and making sure the site loads properly without frustrating users.
If everything else is good but the site takes forever to load then obviously that can hurt the experience. That’s where I think technical SEO really helps.

It still has its place, but I don't think it's as essential as it used to be. For example, Google will often rewrite meta descriptions these days. Focusing instead on things like things like page speed, UX and good content is a better way to go imho

On a new site fixing obvious technical issues takes a few hours and removes potential blockers, worth doing once and moving on.

technical SEO is very important because it helps search engines crawl, understand, and index a website properly.

Site speed is worth improving, but good content and satisfying search intent can still matter more for many queries.

Check technical issues when rankings suddenly drop too. A crawl or indexing problem can sometimes explain a change that looks like a content issue.

Technical SEO will continue to remain fundamental in 2026.

Prior to optimizing content and building backlinks, I would evaluate crawlability, indexing, canonicalization, website structure, internal linking, core web vitals, and mobile friendliness.

High-quality links will not function optimally if search engines cannot crawl and understand the site.

I have seen this too a site can rank well without perfect Technical SEO i would fix the main issues and focus more on good content.

Technical seo still matters but it doesn't need to be perfect to rank, I'd focus first on crawlability, indexation, canonical issues, mobile usability & site performance, fixing real technical problems is more useful than optimizing every technical metric just for the sake of it

Technical SEO is very important in 2026, But I don't see it as something that works from content and backlinks'.

I don’t think technical SEO has to be perfect to rank. I have seen sites with average speed, basic robots.txt and sitemap setups still perform well, but I would make sure the important stuff like crawling , indexing, canonicals and internal linking is clea

IMO, tech SEO still matters, but I wouldn’t treat it as a ranking switch. If Google and AI systems crawl, access, and understand the content, a site performs despite some technical gaps. And fix things that hurt the site it may be accessibility, crawling, or indexing , then optimize the smaller tech stuff.

Still very important. Good technical SEO gives your content a solid foundation and helps search engines crawl and understand your site properly.

It still worth getting right, but I wouldn’t overdo it.

Fix the things that can actually prevent crawling, indexing, or a good user experience first, then put more effort into content and relevance rather than chasing perfect technical scores.

A site can rank with some technical issues, but serious errors can still hold back certain pages.

Technical SEO is a broad topic

The fact that you have a noindex in your main selling page because you forgot to uncheck the anti robots checkbox in WordPress when you released your page to production is Technical SEO. It's going to hinder your page ranking for sure.

But also having all your canonicals in place is technical SEO, and it's totally unclear the real impact of this. Theoretically you enter inside the domain of things like "crawl budget" which some operators support and others don't.

Same for Core Web Vitals. Technical SEO at the core. But there are sites ranking perfectly with feeble CWV and others on page 98 with a perfect 100 CWV and every single detail of Technical SEO known in place.

So take Technical SEO with a pinch of salt. A tool that can help you find discoverability troubles can be useful, but forcing yourself to do a million gimmicks to feel that your site is perfect is almost useless. The big question is: what actually moves the needle in 2026 for most operators? That is another thing, and perfect Technical SEO isn't.

A fast site helps, but good content and matching the search intent can matter more for many queries.
Yeah speed is what gets you noticed, but if your content really provides value by fulfilling the search intent, Google will rank your site ahead of any fast page filled with fluff.

Yes. I completely get that Technical SEO is a very broad term and it gets away mopre importance when you have big sites where we get to handle crawl budget where we have to make our less unorganised and helpful for spiders to crawl our new pages and index. As you said canonical tags thats also very importance so that google cant get confused on which page is primary and secondary. All in all Technical SEO is the foundation for a new website or if you have an older or big site

Technical SEO is very important in 2026, but it’s more of a foundation than a standalone ranking strategy.
