How important is Technical SEO in 2026?

Technical SEO is still very important because even great content can struggle if search engines cannot properly crawl, render, or index the site. I usually focus on crawlability, indexing, site speed, mobile usability, redirects, and clean site architecture.

One of my websites, it was ranking well without anything technical because i didn't had time to fix everything.
Then it started gaining more visitors. So i gave it one full week now the traffic is more than triple. So Yes it is important.
but you can still get ranked without technical SEO, but for further profits you need it.

Site speed is definitely a thing because if it is too low, you risk your potential customers to bounce off from your website/blog.
 
I’d worry more about actual issues like indexing, canonicals, redirects and rendering than every warning an SEO tool shows. A small speed score issue usually isn’t the first thing I’d fix.

Yeah site speed definitely matters but I wouldn’t say a fast site automatically has better chances to rank. It’s more about the overall user experience and making sure the site loads properly without frustrating users.
If everything else is good but the site takes forever to load then obviously that can hurt the experience. That’s where I think technical SEO really helps.
 
It still has its place, but I don't think it's as essential as it used to be. For example, Google will often rewrite meta descriptions these days. Focusing instead on things like things like page speed, UX and good content is a better way to go imho
 
On a new site fixing obvious technical issues takes a few hours and removes potential blockers, worth doing once and moving on.
 
Site speed is worth improving, but good content and satisfying search intent can still matter more for many queries.
 
Check technical issues when rankings suddenly drop too. A crawl or indexing problem can sometimes explain a change that looks like a content issue.
 
Technical SEO will continue to remain fundamental in 2026.

Prior to optimizing content and building backlinks, I would evaluate crawlability, indexing, canonicalization, website structure, internal linking, core web vitals, and mobile friendliness.

High-quality links will not function optimally if search engines cannot crawl and understand the site.
 
I have seen this too a site can rank well without perfect Technical SEO i would fix the main issues and focus more on good content.
 
Technical seo still matters but it doesn't need to be perfect to rank, I'd focus first on crawlability, indexation, canonical issues, mobile usability & site performance, fixing real technical problems is more useful than optimizing every technical metric just for the sake of it
 
Technical SEO is very important in 2026, But I don't see it as something that works from content and backlinks'.
