What Is the First Step to Start SEO on a New Website?

Start with getting your site basics right so it is easy to crawl and loads fast , then move into simple keyword research to understand what people search . Content comes next , since it works best when built around those keywords rather than guessing.

Start with keyword research to understand your audience, then set up your website structure and create quality content. A strong foundation helps search engines understand and rank your site better.

in other words my recomendation is to keep things simple. find one specific niche do a little bit of keyword research nd write a few really useful articles. after uh have completed that focus on on page optimization nd build some internal links before anything else.

I think getting the basics right first makes everything easier later. Set up a clean site structure, choose a handful of relevant keywords, and focus on publishing genuinely useful content consistently.

imo begins with the research for key words before doing anything else. that way u will know the search intention and construct your website based on that and not the other way rounds.

start with keyword research to ensures that you actually under stand what people are searching for before even writing anything. once you have ur list of easy keywords, get some technical basics going like setting up search console and start creating the content.

The first step in implementing SEO for a new website is establishing a technical foundation to ensure search engines can successfully discover, crawl, and index your site.
Without this step, subsequent efforts—such as keyword research, content optimization, and link building—are virtually ineffective, because Google (or other search engines) simply cannot "see" your website.

You can start with site setup then move to keyword research and then content stuff. Once you have solid page, focus on internal linking and relevant backlinks and don't chase for links before building site worth ranking.

If you are just starting with SEO then you should focus on site setup first then focus on on-page seo. Then do keyword research and start writing seo friendly and engaging content and the most important are content placements on high authority sites. When you get backlinks to your websites from high authority sites then take it as a vote to yourself and if you get your content placements on high authority sites consistently and do all other basic stuff like SEO friendly content, keyword research etc then there are higher chances of your site to rank.

I'd focus on getting the foundation right first. Do proper keyword research, build a clear site structure, create genuinely useful content, and set up Google Search Console before worrying about backlinks.
