Manual mobile farm real mobile data or proxies long term?

Most replies on my last thread focused heavily on proxies, 1 IP per account, anti detect setups, etc. But I want to approach this from another angle.

My farm is manual. Each phone has its own SIM and its own data plan. No services, no clients, just pushing my own YouTube channels. Basically one account per phone using real carrier data.

Now I’m questioning whether proxies actually make things safer or just add another risk layer. Real mobile data rotates IPs naturally, changes towers, looks messy and normal. Proxies, even good ones, are still structured infrastructure that may already be under heavier scrutiny.

What I’m trying to understand is how YouTube really flags farm activity.

Is it IP and location clustering
Is it sudden activity spikes compared to channel history
Is it similar behavior patterns across accounts
Or long term device and usage fingerprinting

With my current setup I’m not inflating views aggressively. What I’m seeing is better distribution and stronger organic growth. New uploads get picked up faster and recommendations improved. So something is clearly moving.

The real question is about scaling. If multiple phones are in the same physical location but on different SIM data, does that alone create risk over time. Or is coordinated behavior the bigger trigger.

For those running manual SIM based farms, did you find it more stable than proxy setups. And what usually breaks first when scaling.

SIM based farms can hold longer than proxy ones, but doing the same moves on many channels at the same time is what usually gets stuff hit, not the phones sitting in one room.

Hello RichInTheory, I have been working with youtube almost a year and I recently started scaling with phones. I just started scaling with a small phone farm for youtube of 3 devices (android phones). I'm just starting with this and I have SIM with data on all 3 phones (don't use proxies) to push my own youtube channels manually just like you. I am also interested in knowing whether I have to spoof the location of the phones. Common sense tells me I have to in order to keep scaling. I would like to know what the community thinks about this. I read in another post that youtube does also look at location among other things.

Real SIM data is the cleanest signal you can get, but it doesn't scale - cost and management blow up past a handful of devices, and carrier CGNAT means you're sharing IPs anyway. Residential/mobile proxies scale better if you keep them sticky per account and geo-matched. For a self-owned YT farm where each phone pushes your own channels, real data is fine at low device counts; the moment you scale, sticky residential per account is the sustainable path. Mixing them (real data on your oldest/most valuable accounts) is a reasonable hybrid.
