Are PBN backlink still useful now?

The main purpose of using PBN's is influence a website's rankings by creating backlinks and Avoid relying on outreach or waiting for other websites to link to them.
But,some peoples using PBN's to try to increase DA, its not a real goal of Private Blog networks

PBN still work fine for SEO and from what I have seen, many SEO agencies use this method to rank their clients website.

PBNs haven't become completely ineffective, but they're no longer a strategy you can apply carelessly.

A properly managed network with strong aged domains, relevant content, and minimal footprints can still transfer authority and improve rankings.

The challenge is that many PBNs being sold today are built on abused or low quality expired domains, making them much easier for search engines to identify.

Using those can do more damage than provide value, so the real discussion isn't whether PBNs still work.

It's whether the network is built well enough to justify the risks involved.

I own 35 websites in one niche, built with AI content. Some were created before the AI era and still use scraped or rehashed content, and some interlink while others don't. I don't call them PBNs myself since those are money sites. Sometimes they act as tier 1, but most of the time they don't. I create websites but not as PBNs - or at least I don't call them that. Even thinking about it makes it seem fishy. My entire backlink strategy is tiered link building, and sometimes I use these sites as tier 1, but most of the time they're money sites.

Technically, if you can rank a website, then yes, a PBN is also a website that ranks.

I think the niche you're competing in matters just as much as the PBN itself. In low-competition niches, a few well-placed links can still move the needle. In more competitive industries, though, PBN links alone rarely create lasting results because competitors are also building real authority, brands, and earning natural mentions. I'd judge a PBN by whether it looks like a site that could exist without selling links, not by its DR or the number of domains in the network.

It depends how well managed the PBN service is.

A clean managed PBN service may cost you higher per link but they will deliver good ranking results.

I think it depends on how the PBN is built and how it's used. Some people still report positive results, but I wouldn't choose PBNs just to increase Domain Authority since DA is only a third-party metric. I'd pay more attention to whether the links are relevant, look natural, and actually support the site's long-term growth. In my opinion, a smaller number of quality, relevant links is usually a better investment than chasing metrics alone.

hello all,

i want to ask about pbn backlink. Can PBN Backlinks still be used to up domain authority? or PBN backlinks actually leave a spam on a domain?

thanks all

they still work well in 2026 providing great link juice .

PBN links might boost your authority metrics under certain circles, but they are not an ideal long-term solution.

Depend on the quality of your network, relevancy, and footprint management. You will get unnecessary risks if you manage it poorly, that is why I concentrate on high-quality and relevant links.

Do you have any experience of ranking difference between PBN links and editorial guest posts for the same project over a 6-12 month period?

My opinion, PBNs can boost DA a bit, but it’s risky. Without good content, it’s not worth it ,real growth comes from quality, not just links.

A quick quality check saves a lot of time later... I always look for relevance and consistent publishing first.

PBNs may be useful in some scenarios but the danger is significantly higher. the value of quality, relevancy nd authenticity of a PBN is highly increased today. poor quality PBNs may be more harmful than benefficial to a website nd building an authority still seems more promissing.

PBN gives instant results who looking quick results like grey & black niche business

If the PBNS are high quality will it work ! Just dont use some spam PBNS that are abused with a lot of posts..... bettery build this yourself these PBNS

I would separate 'can it move a metric?' from 'is it a sensible risk for this site?' DA is a third-party score, so raising DA alone is not a useful objective. The real test is whether relevant queries and qualified traffic improve without creating a footprint you cannot unwind.

just fyi
