More platforms are keeping users engaged without sending them to external websites so you think owning a website is becoming less valuable compared to building audiences directly on social media and community platforms?

Platforms keeping users inside is real but it does not make websites less important, it makes them more important as your home base. social media accounts get banned, reach gets throttled, algorithms change overnight. you don't own any of that. your website is the only digital asset you actually control.
The smart play is use platforms to drive traffic but always push people back to your own site. email list, own domain, own data. anyone building their entire business on instagram or tiktok is one policy change away from losing everything. websites are not dying, rented audiences are just getting riskier.

Social platforms are definitely keeping users longer, but owning a website is still very valuable because it’s the only asset you fully control. Social media can change algorithms or restrict reach anytime, while a website builds long-term SEO traffic and brand authority. The best approach today is not either/or, but combining both. Use social platforms for reach and your website for stability and conversions.

Platforms do try to keep users in their ecosystems, but that doesn’t make websites any less valuable. Social media can bring attention quickly, but it's still rented space with changing algorithms and limitations you don't control. A website gives you stability, ownership, and a place to convert traffic long-term. Best approach is usually using both together instead of relying on just one.

websites are still important but they’re no longer the main traffic source for most niches—platforms like tiktok instagram and youtube now act as discovery layers instead

That doesn't mean a website is dead. It’s still the most robust way to own your narrative and offer a truly curated experience, not dictated by an algorithm. Plus, a well-optimized site still loads faster than a thousand embedded videos

Websites aren't becoming less important they're becoming the foundation you own, while social platforms are increasingly just the channels that drive traffic and attention to them

Social Plateforms help you build an audieance but a website is your asset.

Websites are probably less dominant for discovery, but they are still the one channel you actually control. Social platforms can be excellent for reach, while the site handles deeper information, email capture, and conversions. I mean, relying entirely on rented platforms leaves you exposed to algorithm and policy changes, so I would build both and make every channel point back to something owned.

in my opinion the significance of the webbsite is transforming into something else but not losing importance. social networks r more effective in terms of being found nd initiating communications but a website is an essential component for ownership nd authority. it may happen that algorithms will restrict the reach at any point in time but when there is ur own platform there are no limitatiions at all.

today, websites are not seen as merely traffic generators they are now considered assets nd places of conversion. social media channels are great tools for discovery, yet relying only on rented channel is risky becuz of the algorithms involved.

The reason why websites remain useful is that you control your audience and your data rather than relying on changes in algorithms. The way to go in this case is a combination: leverage social media for reach, but bring high-intent customers to your ecosystem.

Social media is a great way to attract an audience, but you don't truly own your profile there since it's on a global website. One algorithm change or account suspension can wipe out years of work. That's where your own website comes in. Try to turn your social media followers into email subscribers or website visitors, because those are assets that are much more under your control.

while i believe there is still much value in websites they r no longer the sole source for building audiences. While social media networkks can be used to reach out nd engage audiences, websites provide u the flexibility to own ur content nd brand. The best way forward would be to not ignore one while relying on the other but to use each platfform based on its strengths.
