94 DR Backlink From Forbes

Just saw a post on X/Twitter about getting a backlink form Forbes that has 94 DR. According to that post, anyone can:

1. Join Forbes Councils as an executive.
2. Pay the yearly membership fee.
3. Write an article and include your link.
4. Submit the article to Forbes.
5. Get a high-authority backlink.

After checking I saw its costing around $2700/Year and also have a pretty steep eligibility requirements.

What you guys thinks this have that much strong SEO benefit? Or just another waste of money?

Even if someone is ready to pay $2700 for the membership I am pretty sure there must be other stuff involved like due dilligance and whats allowed , what's not. Otherwise the website would have been full of casino, gambling posts, As they have very bigger pockets.

I saw this too but that was weeks ago. $2700/year to have my links on Forbes is a waste of money, unless that will convert great, which I don't think it would. Unless there are other perks. But for a purely backlinks & SEO purpose, it's a waste.

only 1 strong backlink has rarely had a big impact. And for this price I'm sure that this type of link (which can be good in certain cases) is reserved to big spenders only (SEO agencies, millionaires, etc) who can afford to buy 50-100 such links each year, and in this quantity these links do have a strong impact.

Personally (and since I'm not rich), I would skip this... Also, let's not forget that the page where the link is placed is also very important. Like, for example...

- if the page where the link is placed is not related to the content of the page that you're linking to, the link could be useless (because it's only 1)
- if the link is not d0follow it's only good for boosting trust (pages that Forbes links to are usually considered important by google)
- if the page where this link is placed has links to other 3rd party sites around it then its power is heavily diluted, which makes the price be worthless when put into this context...

Anyway, many reasons not to chase after this link if $2700 is a fortune for you, so it's not worth giving up your holiday money for this IMO

pretty sure google already discounts paid placement links from forbes councils. and this is not new, I remember forbes actually got hit with an unnatural link warning from google back in 2011 for selling links. then forbes advisor got penalized again in 2024 over site reputation abuse policies. google has been watching forbes for years. so paying $2700 for a link on a platform google already has its eye on doesnt make sense. same budget spread across 5-6 niche relevant guest posts on real traffic sites will move rankings way more than one big brand name link.

Most of the links on Forbes are NoFollow.

I was able to find an expired domain from a ******** link.

Honestly I don't think is worth the price.

There are other similar options that you can get even for FREE, not joking about this.

In my opinion, the backlinks alone is not worth $2700 per year. The real value comes from the credibility, networking, and exposure that Forbes council membership can provide. From a pure seo perspective, I would not join just for a single high DR backlink. I would only consider it if the branding and business opportunities also make sense for the company.

If the primary goal is SEO the ROI seems questionable at the price.
