I follow around 600 people a day manually and it doesn't take long at all. As for unfollowing, use tweepi it's a free website that can make unfollowing 1000 people relatively quick. My method.. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a bot nor buy a cheap one that will be useless with a Twitter...
