some of those big sites do actively pursue things like that not really worth the risk if its not being monetized however majority of the times itll just be a C+D letter and you can remove them and its over with

call him and try to figure it out amicably is your best and easiest best. don't take vague promises/answers because that's pretty much how he'll reply. get concrete answers and if he can't provide them then he's probably screwing you. if he is and his is info is real then you have a lot more...

almost always the $1 is just an authorization and will be refunded

almost gtd its because they want to sell you something (and update your profile). just give them vague answers (IM) and politely refuse everything they try to sell. had it happen, it's no big deal.
