You need to think what mind set people are when they come to your website. if they come in from google for the keyword "buy jewellery online" they are more likely to purchase. Rather then a social network where people just want to chat and meet other people.

Depends on your competition. You might be on page 100 then with your improvements you could move to page 99. Nobody searches that far. Have you checked what rank your at for the keywords your targeting?

No it won't. It may cause errors in your pages but it will not reset the backlinks. Backlinks point to your domain name not your theme. If you change your domain name then yes it will. Other than that it will be fine.

a site can rank number 1 and have like 10 backlinks. just manually check the page rank of the sites... if its more than 4 its hard to out rank. quality relevant backlinks from authority sites can out rank anything along with good social marketing and a very old domain name..
