I do optimize the alt text, but I don't use the straight keyword usually. I'll use something descriptive which contains it, such as "red widget example image". Alt tags are there for users that have non-graphical browsers so I'll use a phrase that would be contextually relevant.

Typically one main keyword and a few longtails/location based keywords. I'm in NYC so I can charge a premium. It depends on the client though.

I generally charge $400-$1,000/Month US. I outsource most of the work and bill for a given block of time. So freelance cost + my time + markup = good monthly rate.

Backlinks to page and the last 4 (relating to on-page seo) are what I analyze. That keyword doesn't look to have much competition and it should be fairly easy to rank.

It's called a trackback. The program Scrapebox can do it.

They are probably already indexed, so once Google recrawls the pages you should get appropriate credit for the backlink. I wouldn't ping them but that's just me.
