Aren't web directories a waste of time with Google these days?

I used to use Traffic Travis and there was a great function where you'd type in your keyword and it'd return the top 10-20 results in Google with a bit of info on their backlinks. I can't find the same feature on the updated Traffic Travis however. I'm running the free version, fyi.

Any alternative tools with a Google focus? I've picked up Market Samurai mainly for the "SEO COMPETITION" tool, which isn't much good if it's using Bing as opposed to Google. Cheers
