For my amazon sites I only use unique content. you can write them yourself, but I just buy my articles. I have found that it is not worth my time to write them when I can get 500 word articles for about $4

Yes. If you sites have all no-follow links except for a few it looks unnatural. I would be easy for google to single out all the do-follow links. Thants my opinion at least.
