I bought this service knowing fine well it wasn't white hat and that there was a risk so I personally won't be requesting a refund. I do think though that for the benefit of the clients that haven't yet received a penalty it's better that the network stays offline to protect them.

I agree, but that is providing the sites are online 100%, the second that server goes down EVERY site goes down and it doesn't take much for Google to put 2 and 2 together and realize it's a link farm. Even splitting the sites between 2 or 3 hosting accounts would be a much better idea so that...
