When I was demonetized my channel viewership had risen dramatically and it had stayed at about 20 million for about a month. During the about month of period I spent demonetized my total views were 23 million so my viewership definitely did not decrease, rather it just grew slightly.

I am fairly sure they own the recordings because they told me they specifically commissioned the songs for my channel and I have no reason to doubt them in that case. My channel will make very good money for both of us so i also don't see why the MCN would want to risk me getting terminated...
