Backup for pirated material

Hello,

I am actually searching for an unlimited online storage, secure and private. I want to use it for backup and access to my files from anywhere, and I DON'T want to share anything.

After a lot of reserach, I find that Amazon Drive gives unlimited storage for around 70$/year, very nice deal, but the problem is that Amazon get FULL access to your files, scan for pirated content and can delete your account even if you don't even share anything (a lot ofexample in reddit, and in Amazon Drive TOS they tell that by uploading any file you give them the right to do what they won't with it).

Google Drive, Dropbox and other clouds are too expensive (I need illimited storage, ov very cheap one because I have a lot of content).
Hosts like uptobox offer unlimited storage and you can pay to get your files never deleted, but they aren't safe (they can close door at any time like megaupload ^^).

Have you guys any idea for a secure and private online storage, where you can backup anything you want (pirated material like music and movies included), for personnal use, not for sharing, ?

Nothing is secure if its stored online. Buy some hard disks and save your content locally.

I have a lot of hard drives (actually 35 to).

Every file is already stored in 2 different physical hard drives...but imagine I lost all of them in an incident (can be anything) !! That's the reason I want a private online backup to add another level of security.

It's pretty easy, if you don't want to play the files online. Compress the files into .rars, give them some non-revealing filename and password protect them. No file host can scan what they can't access. If they check MD5 checksums, you're creating new files, so those won't match either with any database.

It sound easy, but when you have 35 To of files, it's not a very good solution (You can even encrypt files to protect them). I have series, music, photos...And I want to normally access to them on the net.

Well, i also had a lot of shit. I got rid of them all. I sold all my bigger external drives too, even making a profit, because their prices went up. Go figure, i used them for years and sold them for more than what i paid for them when they were new. lol

Honestly it doesn't make any sense to backup pirated software, because there are always newer versions, what you can download from even public torrent sites in most cases, if you don't want to pay for them. In our age with the internet speeds we have, it doesn't take too long to re-download anything when you need it. Other type of content, music and movies don't really worth to preserve either. I was a big collector myself, but when you can get Netflix, Deezer, Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and alike for such low amounts, there's no point in paying for storage to store illegal shit. Not talking about the fact, that when you pay for those memberships, you support the content creators. And the best part, you'll have access to a lot more stuff than just what you pirated.

I know it's not easy to get rid of what you collected throughout years, but i'd suggest you to backup only the irreplaceable stuff, which is hard to come by, that should reduce that 35 TB with a lot.

Thank you. Does it encode the content before sending it to the drive? For example if you have an A folder, will he create and A+ (encrypted) and you send it or will it affect directly the A folder ? and does he change the file names ?

Actually what's in Amazon Cloud TOS :

These permissions include, for example, the rights to copy Your Files for backup purposes, modify Your Files to enable access in different formats, use information about Your Files to organise them on your behalf, and access Your Files to provide technical support. Amazon respects your privacy and Your Files are subject to the Amazon.co.uk Privacy Notice.

Actually I have 3 month free for test, but the fact that they can access and look to your files is very negative to the service.

You have backblaze. They're pretty cheap. I also think you can encrypt it with encfs then just upload with rclone (or is it rsync).

Mega gives you the option to choose an encryption key so it should be safe. But everyone will advise you to stay away from mega.

Surprised nobody mentioned https://mega.nz because the service is free for 50 GB and the files are encrypted. Lost your login password? Mega says sorry we can't unlock your files, they are lost. This makes using KeePass (or another password manager essential) and I recommend KeePass because it's open source. Just share the encrypted password database, and be done.

These two fine gentlemen gave you all the answers you need. Encrypted RAR + filename encryption + backblaze. Later on you can restore everything with one shell script.

Thank you for all your responses. Actually, I use GD for backup, seems like as long as you don't share anything it's fine.
