Recently there hasn't really been many Adsense journeys popping up. Seems that the biggest players are Amazon, Youtube and Instagram - albeit they're not bad choices I've always loved Adsense.

Starting things off -
I started this website a year ago as a hobby project to-do in my spare time. Right now it's roughly one year old and I've spent time on and off. Recently I've been seeing huge movements in rankings and traffic since January this year.

The niche is somewhat evergreen and in the finance section. What gives me an edge is that the language is in Swedish so easier to compete - especially for the keywords I'm going after.

Current statistics -
It's not a big website by all means:
  • 46k words - 44 articles. I aim for around 1000-1500 words minimum per article.
  • Around 60 UV per day according to GSC
J1fMA9y

Earnings -
70$. During my previous journeys I always stopped once I realized how hard it was to actually get results. This time I'm going with something I've already built up over a long time and that I know will last.

I did a test-drive earlier with ads but they were too obstrustive since I never bothered setting them up correctly so right now there's nothing running which means there's no actual monthly income. Current plan is to implement it properly this Sunday before leaving on vacation.

Current Plan -
As mentioned earlier: I'm leaving for vacation next week and although I will write some content it'll be more of blog-type material instead of real articles.

Until then I plan to implement Adsense and set it up properly and get at least two new articles á 2000 words a piece.

Thoughts -
What do you guys want to see from this journey? The technical aspect, keywords, traffic, earnings?

Good luck! That's a lot of articles for minimum traffic.

Have you done any link building at all? I would of thought you should get more natural visits considering the amount of work you have put in to content.

Not entirely worried about the traffic as of right now. It's been increasing daily for the past months. When looking in Search Console you get a better view of it:

In December we had 12k words and now we're up to 46k words so writing great content seems to be the key to success. If the trend keeps going we'll be doing great when summer hits. It's a finance website but with certain related niches close to it that are seasonal which have been great traffic-wise.

Linkbuilding I've been doing manual outreaches to websites and blogs and gotten good success with it.

Domain metrics are:

Majestic - TF27 CF32
Ahrefs - DR45

With a total of 90 ref domains according to Ahrefs.

With the domain metrics up there, I would start to congratulate you on this journey as it's a success, just don't give up. And continue with the contents...plus building the manual backlink the same way you are already doing will give a more ranking.

Nice stats, best of the luck for this journey!

I'm really interested to see how you do SEO for non-english speaking geo. I had the feeling that you can rank on juicy keywords without much hustle.

It's a lot easier compared to the English market. But it's still the same - you need to find the low difficulty words, it's just that there's more of them in non-English markets. :) Seeing as I'm going for volume and quality I don't focus that much on specific keywords, I just pick a topic that could be useful in the niche and write about it. Some becomes filler while others shoot up.

Update
Haven't had time to-do as much as I wanted due to preperations for my vacation on my actual job. But I've added another article so up to 48k words now. I've also implemented AdSense on the website one day ago with the following structure:
  • Sidebar Ad (Text/image, 300x600)
  • Before Content (Text/image, Responsive)
  • In Content (Text/image, 336x280)
  • After Content (Text/image, Responsive)
We'll see how they fare after a couple days - Right now it's impossible to say what the daily average will be especially after a national holiday.

All traffic comes from google? you don't do adsense arbitrage ?

Hey there.

No arbitrage as of now, only organic and (some) social media.

I'm back! Japan - amazing country and already looking at going back there for another three weeks this autumn.

So how has it been going?

I haven't done anything with the website during my trip as originally planned. I can show you some rankings to start things off with:

Obviously I'm tracking a lot more but just showing the top ones. I'm thinking about creating a separate campaign for the keywords with 800+ search volume since they are the most interesting ones for both me and you.

When looking at Search Console we've had quite an improvement from last time:

And this is my current earnings with AdSense, it's been running for three weeks. It's nothing amazing but the more traffic I get and the most I tweak it the better it'll get:

Since most of you aren't Swedish it's roughly 40 dollars a month right now. But since I've doubled my traffic the earnings has increased somewhat as well. I think I'll land at 50$/mo to start things off and hopefully I'll be at around 500$/mo by the end of the year if not more (depends if I can keep the traffic increase going).

Since I've come home I've written 1 article at 1500 words and another one in the works which I'm guessing will land on something similar which means we're up to 49k words now and soon over 50k in 1-2 days.

My current plan right now is to continue with building content and getting more exposure on my Facebook page.

Another two articles done bringing the total words up to 52.5k. I've also fixed the menu structure going from a plain one to a detailed ubermenu setup. Plan today is to add another 1-2 articles and see if I can hit 55k words.

Keyword Research - I don't focus too much on it. I use Ahrefs and Semrush to check out my competition for ideas and low-hanging fruit and build my articles around that.

Heatmaps - I use the free version of Hotjar to discover bottlenecks within my websites design. One thing I discovered earlier was that I had a table of content which didn't work properly due to having a sticky menu (i.e. once you pressed a link you wouldn't see the headline of where you went which caused confusion - something easily solved with jQuery).

Website is up to 54,2k words now and 50 articles. Currently working on a infographic to publish as well as adding more content continuously. The past couple of days it has been 100+ clicks each day so hopefully that trend continues.

56k words now with 52 articles and plan is to analyze all the articles I have and update the ones that needs some extra love.

Search Console has started averaging ~150 clicks / day instead of 60 clicks / day so hopefully we'll be up to 4-5k visitors within the next month. It's keeping with the theme of doubling our traffic every month for the past 4 months.

Alright!

Update time. I've been working the past week to update a lot of the older articles. I've noticed that the website started getting a lot of knowledge graphs on Google for the pricing lists which are, if anything, an indication from Google that I'm doing something right.

Currently up to 54 articles and 59k words. Plan now is to continue to polish the old articles and updating them with up-to-date information. The bigger goal is to have around 100k words on the website until end of September so that's 40k words more to write.

Traffic
There's been a lot of national holidays in Sweden which means less traffic but traffic is still increasing at a good pace.

Earnings May
I started with Adsense May 2nd so this is the first "full month". Nothing too special and I've experimented a lot with different adsets and locations. So far this month I'm almost past May's earnings.

Any questions? Don't be afraid to ask me! :)

Quick update: Up to 57 articles and 62,1k words. Had a couple of the new articles gaining a lot of traction recently.

Good lucky bro !!!

Thanks!

keep adding content, earnings will go up aswell

Yeah. Plan is just to continue adding content, trying out different keyword strategies which seems to be working well. Might also dabble in the Affiliate market since there's a lot of potential PPC + Landing pages.

Hi!

Been watching this, it looks like you have been doing really well :)

A couple of questions if you dont mind:

1. Is it a blog type of website?
2. Do you write the content yourself?
3. How do you perform your guest post blogging strategy?

Good luck :)

Hey there! Thanks :)

1. Magazine-type so yeah. Got three sections split up with multiple cornerstone articles each on-top of a blog for minor news.
2. Yes. I hate writing but I'm somewhat (hopefully) good at it. The biggest culprit to why I'm not buying articles is that I'm paying 50$ per 1000 words for an articles written in Swedish. Ouch.
3. No guest blogging, right now I'm only focusing on quality content and seeing the traffic curve that seems to be working out so far.
