Need SEO Help - Stuck on 2nd page

Hi Experts,

i am working on a site and am stuck on 2nd or 3rd page of Google for all the keywords I'm targeting.

Over the past 2 weeks, I have been building inbound links from local citation sites, blog comments, articles etc along with sites from competitor analysis via opensiteexplorer.

Looking at the sites that are on the 1st page I cant understand why many of them are ranking higher than me?

Any insight and plan of attack would be most appreciated from any search experts on the forum.

Have you checked their backlinks etc through Ahrefs ?
Reverse engineered the top 5 or top 10 sites ?

If you have not done it before. Add some article on your page/post and then silo it. Wait for a 3weeks or a month for everything to age. Don't rush it, you might end up tanking your site instead of ranking it.
Also, see if your site is overoptimize with the KWs you are planning to rank for. you can use seobook for that.

1) What's the backlink profile of the websites in the first page?
2) What's the level of competition?
2)How old is your site?
3) Have you built tier 1 links in addition to the links you have mentioned?
4) Is your on-page on point?

Yes ! i have checked their backlink profile through Aherfs. Can u suggest me Any strategy or method to do reverse engineering the top 5 and top 10 sites.

if hes already "on page 2 for all kws he targeted" then how he can be overoptimized??

i'd bring more link juice to all your T 1 links + constantly make new ones

Check on page seo. Add more content with social signals.

you need to check the following :
1. Onpage SEO
2. Social signals (which help to boost domain authority)
3. Check the link profiles of the website on page one and try to get as much as posible
4. Get a powerful PBN

Usually being stuck on page 2 is a result of poor user metrics, for example a low time on site, high bounce rate, poor click through rate when split tested on page 1.

Try:

- Optimising the title tag for better CTR
- Changing the layout of the page to serve users intentions better above the fold
- Encourage deeper clicks through the website with easy to navigate sub-page links

Just keep building links, slowly but surely. The sites on page one all have age, which is the main thing you don't right now.

You'll get there, it just takes consistent patience and covering everything (backlinks, social media, content).

Also, two weeks is way too early to see results, think more like 2 months to start really looking at positive SERP movements.

First al all ... what about the on page it's good enough compare to you competitor and check the backlink of top 10 websites who are really gd with this keyword with analysis their backlink profile using SEMrush/Ahrefs and reverse engineering backlink strategy with every top level domain in blog commenting/guest posting/web 2.0/artcle sharing/image sharing/slide sharing/infographic submition/.edu or .gov backlink etc. i hope you can get some extra effort doing this the result will be improve ...
