Do you use voice search?

I'm not convinced, but what do you think?

I think that's a bit of a stretch, I prefer visual confirmation of the info I need.

I only use it when I'm on a go, for example, to check the weather without typing anything.

But I guess the numbers posted in article assume that a lot more people will have personal assistants such as Alexa from Amazon, therefore voice searches will presumably increase.

Interesting thoughts they offer there but I think the amount of LCD available in their neck of the woods is higher than in most other areas. I've never used voice to search online, although I do ask Siri to open a program here and there for me at times.

I don't see Echo and Google Home taking off and being a household must but I missed out on Blockbuster when it went it went public and I had inside information so perhaps I'm talking out of school there.

Perhaps voice search is a generational thing and long term will be the way people operate but then you would have to train the search engine to recognize your voice, accent and inflections.

50% in 3 years is pushing the envelope but in 15 it may not be.

I've never used voice search. Maybe, it is helpful when your hands are busy, but again, if you are so busy (in driving or in any other important things) then u should finish your work and get back to screen and typing. I don't see a good reason - why someone will use voice search when his hands are free?

I ve never used voice search due to localization and language limitations.

Perhaps in the next few years, if that option available worldwide, I give that a shot...

I dont think even 10% is voice search. But yes, its seems that maybe in 3 years it could start to increase the voice search due to all the new IA and because sure Google will like to make it work. They are investing money into it, so they will want to get it back.

Never used this. The voice is not always correctly recognized and then you still have to edit it manually.
It’s faster to write text right away, especially since search tips are very well developed.

But voice input is great for quickly typing a draft of large text.
For example, one can dictate long articles, notes, lists, and generally any text that needs to be written quickly and does not require great accuracy.

50% was way too lofty of an estimate. People have privacy concerns of devices listening, people search personal things they don't to say out loud, and sometimes it's a clunky experience if you do quick back-to-back-to-back searches to refine. In that case, it's easier just to type it out.
