I logged today into the GoDaddy cPanel to make few changes and I noticed that suddenly I am using 4.3 GB of space and 370.000 files.

Since my limit is 250.000 files/folders/etc, I never had more than 200.000. My last backup is from 10.04.2017. - I made local restore and I have total of 175.000 files/folders and 1.09 GB. Also, I have last backup on GoDaddy hosting, for a total (according to my calculation) of 1.6 GB of data.

I have removed all my test sites and deleted everything I could, and my total number of files/folders is now around 310.000 and I use little less than 4GB of space.

According to the disk usage page, I have 2.1 GB of data as 'Other Usage' - defined as 'Files outside your home directory or files you do not have permission to access.'

I have no idea where these extra ~170.000 (now ~ 110.000) files/folders came from - no malware of any kind detected, no newly created users, no logon errors etc. ...

I have contacted GoDaddy in several ways, but no response ...

Any idea what is going on on GoDaddy? Also, any recommendations for hosting - BlueHost perhaps?

yeeeee, they responded in less than 2 hours :)

"Hello, sorry for the confusion, we are aware of an issue that is causing some accounts to show a disk full error. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as this is being addressed."

less that 2 hours. Seems kind of long time there to get a first response. Blue host would not be any better you can search google and find all the issues people have had with them

well, after 12h of noticing this 'full disk error', it is still there ... very frustrating ... :(

EDIT: i can't even edit conf files to disable caching on my sites, and since sites can't write cache, they can't read it, and they look like ... don't want to say it ....

Unfortunately, Godaddy is another one of those huge web hosting companies that doesnt really take care of you. EIG companies are pretty bad also. Would not recommend bluehost.

I moved from godaddy 4 months ago, after a problem, best decision EVER !!

i absolutely love bluehost. Tech support is absolutely amazing. I never wait more than a few minutes on the phone whenever I call. Always get me fixed before I hang up. I love them.

I agree, there are many webhosts that are far much better especially in terms of customer support. Hosts like bluehosts are popular because they have a good affiliate program but i would never use them.

I moved out of GD years ago and never looked back. So many great hosts out there looking for your business.
