This is what I would suggest and has worked really well for me.
Sell to get back your capital and let the remainder run.
So lets say you had invested $2000 into Ripple and now the value is $4500. I would take my capital back and let the $2500 stay in the account.

good advice... except it's kind of very different for XRP. . . cuz like if I kept half my money in, that would mean I would have to hope it stayed at $0.04+. . . if u look at XRP historically, it usually goes up to $0.02 then drops for like the whole year to $0.006'ish. This year is different cuz of the bank thing, but still it's pretty risky at $0.04.
But idk, maybe someone knows if it'll soar higher or. . . yeah.
I've been hawking it and saw some huge opportunities yesterday. It went down to $0.022, then rose to $0.034. <-- would've been great if bought/sold.

Theres a lot of people hoping it will after poloniex fucked everyone over! Its a good coin with good potential for mass adoption and if it goes much lower i'll be buying again.
How much lower exactly? Cuz if ur talking about $0.00x, then that's not a short-term thing. . . if it drops that low, it will obviously go up to $0.0x, but that's between 12 to 24 months.
Also, can u tell me what happened with Poloniex? Did they take everyone's money and just leave? Can that happen to Kraken?

No i mean I'd like to buy at 0.000025btc as thats a little above where it was before it started getting pumped. But I am keeping a close eye out for any ripple related news and Ill buy now if theres something good.
as for polo. It froze up due to the volume on xrp on the 2nd april. Price was shooting up and I think most people were ready to sell. I sold half at 0.000065 and then regretted it as it carried on up to 000069. Tried to sell again but the site froze. For most people all they could do was sit and watch the price plummet to 000038. I tried to buy there as well but nothing was working. Trollbox was going mad with people threatening all sorts. Annoying from my point of view but im still well in profit so over it now.
edit: realised you quoted USD. I trade btc/xrp on polo but for comparision 0.000025btc is about $0.02 or so now.
I"ve seen it go down to 0.000025 btc and lower yesterday. Tbh, that's still kind of high? That's the amount I bought it at (more or less) at the start of the thread.
Maybe you know better, but that's risky because the whole year and many years before, XRP was at $0.0006 (don't know what that is in BTC, but it's probably one decimal place to the right).
Like, u could buy at 0.000025 but it might go back down to 0.00000x again and you'd have to wait 1 - 2 years to get back what you invested.
The good news is that XRP always bounces back to the $0.02 / 0.000025 price tho.

I dont tend look to too far back historically at charts with altcoins as you're mainly trying to catch the random pumps anyway. Yeah I saw it at 000023 twice yesterday and recover slightly both times which is what made me pay attention. Maybe my judgement is clouded by the xrp i still hold but it has been in the news recently a bit and is very active in development. I'll also bet theres a lot of people that bought into that pump before it crashed and they wont be looking to sell anytime soon.

DUDE THE NEWS IS THE REASON WHY IT WENT UP LOL.I checked it just now. It turns out that Japan enacted a law that regulates like 4 crypto, and ripple was one of them. Like 2 days or 3 after that, Ripple went from $0.007 to $0.01, then MUFG announced it was joining Ripple's system and it went from $0.01 to the $0.04 - $0.06.
But like there's no news lately. So that's why prices are starting to stabilize. The newest news is that everyone's planning on doing a Ripple wire service or whatever in 2018. . . but that's in 2018.
IMHO, I think ripple will crash back down until the tail end of 2017 (buy in nov/dec). But if Japan does stuff crypto-related, then I think the price will surge up again.
also, there's the possibility that BTC forks... and that will devastate everyone's investments.

I was unfortunately out of XRP when it spiked, but on the flip side, thankfully wasn't holding any when it crashed. I suspect holding it long is the play here. Buy when it's cheap and stay out of emotional trades, sell when you've made a decent profit.

This is perfect advice, and what I do. Make enough to cover your initial investment, then that allows you to take riskier strategies with the rest. Whenever I make some money on a trade or spike, I always put 50% back into BTC as holding. Then continue to diverse into other coins (right now, Golem, Blackcoin, and Dash are what I'm interested in).

idk. it's still a scam coin lol.
I went into LTC and btc.
I went back to XRp briefly and made $100
but yeah I wouldn't stay in XRP until dec or nov tbh. That's when big things happen.
some coins are dangerous and xrp is one of them. Do u research on this one. you'll see what I mean ^_^

Well, thats a huge mistake guys, I think I should start a blog of common trading issues....
1) Split your money (Shortterm, Midterm, Longterm)
2) Fund each group with money (Shortterm - less money --> Longterm - more money)
3) Start trading
