Crazy Google Dance In The Last 24 Hours

See a lot of speculations and talk, I'm just gonna share my stats.

I have about 8 sites or so and they've all had some dancing going the last few days, some more than others. Nearly all keywords that had stable rankings have not experienced any big jumps. By stable I mean they've been at that position for several weeks (with one exception). One site is purely powered by PBNs and is still sitting unscathed at the top, actually most of my PBN sites have managed just fine.

One thing I have noticed though, is that e-commerce keywords are affected the most. Some of these keywords have even dropped out of the serps completely. We'll see if they bounce back or not.

I also have another site that's swedish, it consists of mostly longer articles covering top products and this site has been affected the most. It's gone from 700 uniques a day to around 500. I'm thinking it'll bounce back up soon though. This site is powered by a few PBNs but also by links from directories, forums, guest posts, etc.

If I were to have my own theory, I think that this update is revolving around the visitor interactions on your site, the site that got hit the hardest was also the one with pretty bad stats, 80% bounce rate, 40 second sessions etc.

You have a great point i have a new e-commerce site i have been working on full time and that one took a severe hit. I have a local site which has a decent amount of black hat seo that one came back to better before. The SEO on my ecommerce site is of higher quality since i had built all of the links manually.

I figured I'd weigh in on this, so I'll be posting a quote that was my own post a few days ago.

I took a hit last night, all my buying keywords I was ranked quite highly for have taken a hit along with several others. I moved to https a few days ago and for some reason wordpress nofollowed ALL my internal links. In the mean time while I was unaware i did resubmit sitemaps and fetch/crawled some pages. Not all my pages have been reindexed under https so I fingers crossed this is just temporary.

I wasnt affected by any update as far as I can tell within the last few weeks.

I figured I'd weigh in on this, so I'll be posting a quote that was my own post a few days ago.

That's simply not true, I target, track and monitor 100+ buying/commercial keywords. Some of them rank better than amazon or any other retailer. Only two of my posts were jumping during this update.The rest were as solid as rock.

1) what linkbuilding have you done?
2) did you use any P(ublic)BN from bhw here?
3) hows ur anchors? overoptimized by a bit?
4) much content on the site?
5) old site?

3. onsite density could be overoptimized, offsite no anchors, mainly naked urls (which,is,bad)
4. lets say 65 big articles
5. month old since in index

The positions are still going up, right now im mainly in postions #9 - #13 on main keywords with low comp (well not sure if low or medium as I am bad at checking it some are 6k Search Volume monthly, most are over 1k+).
Right now even if positions grow it feels like im quite stuck on between pages 1 (at the end) and 2 (at the top) . Since my main kws (which are much harder than longtails) are ranking this well, I will probably rank on my longtails (which, i targeted a lot) soon as well. They will probably get caught by Google later as my content and domain are quite fresh. I will post results here after couple days if they will be exceeding. I did also read about couple things meanwhile so I'll still add backlinks and content (and other stuff) to maximize my chances.

PS i also have fired shitload (like f a lot) of decent backlinks recently and send them to indexers. Seems they started getting indexed just yesterday . I shouldn't get a penalty, but I could as there was no drip feed feature on indexer (lmao) yet i know they work sucky sucky so I probably won't get penalty for insane links amounts. Anyway ill be seeing much increase because of these fresh links soon probably.

According to their patent the algorithm sends the site to hell and waits a few days, the user will then disavow all the links he bought because knows which ones it is, then they decide where the site comes back.

I've been experiencing that years ago, so it's not something new, and yes, it's real.

To be honest I don't know the answer to your question.

Unfortunately I can confirm that too, they have patent for that, and its not only about links, its about major onpage changes too. The thing is when triggered this algo lower your rankings significantly and keep you there more than '''few day'' like barto said. In my experience it is more like a 3-5 weeks.

My observations regarding this update. There were multiple changes made to the algorithm in a 3-6 days interval.

I had 2 sites in the same niche(same exact keyword), both ranking in top10, one had only 1 page, and the other had 6 pages. The first one to get hit was the one with 6 pages, dropped to position 90+(but bellow 100). The other remained stable until 2 days ago when it dropped altogether from the serp. Both had only PBN, a small number (below 15 links), the anchor's percentages were different.

The same strategy I've applied to other sites as well(pbn + anchor rates) and they remained unaffected. On some other sites(different niches), in some cases the exact match was up to 70%, and they still rank. I can't say that the drop was because of the PBN because I've sent a link to other sites as well and they are not affected at all.

In some cases, only a few keywords dropped and on the other hand, total drop for all keywords without any visible correlation between anchors and content.

For now, any assumption regarding the content/links and anchors would be premature.

Why not? I have (same domain) keys that is in first position with 2.000.000 results, so this isn't domain penalization, because I lost only some keys. I already got it last year, when same keys go to 50+ positions, but after 1-2 weeks they got back, but I think this is big update so we can't understand.

what I do not understand is why google penalized one domain with only some keys? Why i'm in first position with some keys, and lost my position with other keys (articles is similar). Really strange!
