This morning I was on the front page of Twitter when one of the popular topics has caught my eye. After clicking on it I saw somebody spamming the same stuff over and over again. So every time your Tweet contains one of the "POPULAR TOPICS BY THE MINUTE, DAY, AND WEEK" you end up on the list.
Obviously you only stay at the top of the list for a few seconds because of the volume of Tweets so that spammer was posting the same Tweet containing that keyword over and over again with minor adjustments at the end to make the Tweets unique.
What I did:
1) Registered a new account and added a bright, eye catching avatar.
2) Wrote a new Tweet containing eye catching special characters and as many of the the hot topics as possible.
Example: ☀☀☀☀☀☀BUY THIS -LINK-☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ hot keyword 1, hot keyword 2, hot keyword 3, hot keyword 4, hot keyword 5
3) Posted the Tweet, waited for 10 or so seconds and deleted it. Then posted it again and deleted it. Over and over again so that I would always appear at the top of the list of Tweets about that hot toppic.
I was about to record a macro that would do the step 3 for me automatically when my account got suspended. Even though I only lasted 20 or so minutes I have manage to make 7 CB sales related to one of the hot topics. That was absolutely mental! I created another account and repeated the process. This time I only lasted a minute and did not sell anything.
I suppose Twitter users just report you for spam so its a bit of the lotter how long your account actually lasts.
Let the brainstorming begin...
