A few years ago I started a marijuana centric instagram account.
I was very early on a trend, (a type of blunt) and the focus of my account essentially turned into pop culture refrence now. The account has 36,400 followers. Never paid for likes or follows, activity is mostly manual aside from using instagress to like posts that use my brands hashtag (we're at 39K+ posts under my branded hashtag).
My following is very young, very mixed racially, almost entirely weed smokers, and most listen to rap/hiphop music. My fanbase is very strong as I've created a brand that a lot of younger millennials and weed smokers alike want to be apart of.
I'm at a complete loss on how to monetize. I tried tshirts and while it works okay, its been an issue keeping up with buying shirts, printing and shipping while still trying to maintain a day job (where i own some equity). I don't know how much longer I can go just pushing a logo shirt... I'd like to do a better job at merchandising (other types apparel, smoking accessories, even tobacco itself if i can find a partner with the right tobacco licenses). The issue is I don't have any starting capital to get more branded merchandise.
Generally speaking, what would be the best way to monetize a social influence brand? How can I tailor that for the marijuana industry? Also, I'd love to hear from some fellow internet marketers who've been in the marijuana/tobacco space (seems like a tough niche).
