Hi guys, I've only made this thread because I literally could not find a definitive answer anywhere, and there were A LOT of contrary answers.
Quite simply my amazon site is going to be review shortly and I want to ensure that I am doing everything correctly. I actually called amazon customer support to ask for advice and the lady said my site was perfect except for the fact that the way I'm using my images might be questionable.
What I am simply doing is hotlinking directly to the product image. I am NOT using the link builder because the images are way too small and there is only one type. So if you go to any product, open up one of the images and go "copy URL" I am doing this and putting it on each article.
The lady I spoke to was unsure whether this was okay and she told me to just use the API. I asked her if it's okay if instead I go to the manufactures page and grab the image, or search on google images. She said this is okay as long as it doesn't look exactly like the amazon one. Problem is almost EVERY image on amazon is the exact same as the one on the manufacture, and there aren't any other good pictures.
I checked my competitors sites and as far as I can see they have downloaded the image and uploaded, but i'm hesitant to do the same as who knows they might be banned soon.
I just want some peace of mind as to how I can use the images without getting rejected/banned on the future, I've heard a lot of horror stories.
Sorry for the long post, I appreciate any advice
