Hi guys, I've only made this thread because I literally could not find a definitive answer anywhere, and there were A LOT of contrary answers.

Quite simply my amazon site is going to be review shortly and I want to ensure that I am doing everything correctly. I actually called amazon customer support to ask for advice and the lady said my site was perfect except for the fact that the way I'm using my images might be questionable.

What I am simply doing is hotlinking directly to the product image. I am NOT using the link builder because the images are way too small and there is only one type. So if you go to any product, open up one of the images and go "copy URL" I am doing this and putting it on each article.

The lady I spoke to was unsure whether this was okay and she told me to just use the API. I asked her if it's okay if instead I go to the manufactures page and grab the image, or search on google images. She said this is okay as long as it doesn't look exactly like the amazon one. Problem is almost EVERY image on amazon is the exact same as the one on the manufacture, and there aren't any other good pictures.

I checked my competitors sites and as far as I can see they have downloaded the image and uploaded, but i'm hesitant to do the same as who knows they might be banned soon.

I just want some peace of mind as to how I can use the images without getting rejected/banned on the future, I've heard a lot of horror stories.

Sorry for the long post, I appreciate any advice :)

I downloaded all my images from Amazon and uploaded on my site and just linked them, I got approved!

I have a question, should i change all these pictures to keep my account safe? (I have made about 340$+ in sales last month)

Interesting, glad to hear though it doesn't make me 100% confident that I will do the same.

Amazon state that they don't allow you to host their images, so I would probably at the very least link them to their site. Or yeah just remove them, I'm not sure.

Im pretty sure you can use the images, everyone uses them.

Just download the images and host them on your site.

They actually prefer you to host them yourself. Otherwise, you're either over-using their product API OR wasting thier bandwidth. As long as you credit the original seller in the photo, or put "photo from" and clearly mark "Buy From Amazon" it really doesn't matter. T

Appreciate your responses. I had a chat to Amazon and they said that I SHOULDN'T use the images at all unless it's done via the API or the link building tool. I'm sure it's probably fine as most people still do it, but I want to make sure I'm following everything they say.

Here is how I do it since 2012.

Get a screenshot tool,go to product page on Amazon & take a screenshot of the product.

Upload it to your server/host.

This way is better because you can resize image the way you want easier

they are banning all these websites like no tmr now. had to use their api now

In regards to what? Are they banning people for hosting the image themselves or for hotlinking to the image?
products image might change and they dont want to show wrong photos on ur website if u hosted the old one
