Member nargil

I am on a massive mission to learn this
Domain investigation stuff .

I got the following i am going big lol

Hreff
Moz
Kwfinder
Majestic
Semrush

Just to hit this baby out , i love learning , i just need articles to help me get thru this , yes i am using google to help me ....

There must be a service or a dedicated tool ,just for cheeking the whole of a domain and spitting the results .

Let say the main domain all safe , and let say there 50k backlinks surly you got a tool to trace any bad links , or are you telling me i got to go thru them one via one , surly somethink like scrapebox could do this if it was made ....

What have i learnt so far.

Goto google use the double quotes see if domain is listed , if not listed means bad domain becouse noone looking for it.

Know use in google site: domain name
See what links are connected to the website .

Used norton.com to check if the domain is safe .

Was told to do this to cheek every link
For bad backlinks

How to perform a link audit on your site:

  1. Collect data from search console, aHrefs and Majestic
  2. Upload all data to Kerboo
  3. Allow Kerboo to recrawl and score all links
  4. Manually review and mark for removal

One was easily checked with Domaintools screenshots and the other via Majestic. In defense of OP, the spammy anchors were pretty hidden and you had to go deeper and check historic index to see the full extent of damage

Yeh I read this. Has it happened again with some other domain? Because this seems pretty much a coincidence to me. Never happened to any of my money sites at all and I've been using some completely unrelated ones for churn and burn projects. My bet is on coincidence. If you can't replicate it, then it surely is imo.

Good points there and I mostly agree.

Google is catching up on the niche relevancy, but I don't think they will go any further than they are going now. What factors they use to determine niche relevancy? We will never know, but I doubt they are going way too narrow. I think main niches like Sports, Fashion or Kitchen are enough and you don't have to go deeper like longboards, XXX size or juicers. Also, brandable and at least somehow close is enough. IMO if Google uses something to determine the past niche, it's the content. I won't bet my car on this, but this is how I would do it, rather than with backlinks.

And about the authority, in my experience, it does't matter. No matter how strong or weak the domain is, the initial indexing after expiration and registration has been pretty much the same.

You're right. What's really weird is GWT showing 0 links pointing to my home page now. Actually, every single one of my pages are showing up, except my home page. It's like my home page doesn't exist anymore. I wouldn't care if it was Ahrefs or Majestic, but when it's GWT, it's a completely different story

Wait wait wait wait. Are you saying that your homepage isn't indexed?

Basically. Check anchors. Then check backlinks. If they are okay, move to Domaintools screenshot history. If that's okay, move to hosting history. If there isn't anything suspicious, move to archive.org. If you find that everything is fine, then it most likely is. This is it in the nutshell.

Interesting. I really doubt it has anything to do with niche relevancy imo. Would you mind shooting me the domain via PM? I think I sold you some domains in the past too, so I can be trusted. Really interested in this. If I should fuck off rather, then just let me know, it's fine and I understand. :D

You can fuck off.

P.S: I PM'ed you the domain :)

Bastard. :)

Anyways, we figured out what's wrong with Lucky's domain. It had hundreds of backlinks from various niche relevant websites. Which is awesome. Problem is, that all these backlinks were from homepages of real servers. However, when those rolled off from homepage, GWT obviously removed them. These articles on homepage were "news" kinda stuff, so they stuck on the homepage for a few days and weeks, got indexed in GWT and now, GWT recrawled the domain and realised they are not there any longer. That caused the sudden disappearance of hundreds of links basically. So nothing to do with niche relevancy. Just bad luck.

Also another interesting thing is, that even backlinks which are still there disappeard. My guess is that GWT is just pretty confused at the moment and links will eventually reappear there. Still, would put my hand into fire, that it has nothing to do with niche relevancy.

And another thing. Sites that are losing backlinks tend to keep falling down in Serps. Google doesn't like it much. That has been happening for years basically.

Ok, multiple topics in one, my rant on them step be step:

1. The december update Google didn't talk about was a rankbrain update in my opinion, so a change in interpretation of user intent for certain terms. Impressive example: Keyword with about 60k searches a month, top 10 was ecommerce sites/shops only, including some well known brands After the update, 8 out of the 10 page one rankings were replaced by purely informational sites. So, Google simply changed what they think user want to see when entering this keyword. When searching for "buy keyword" or "keyword shop" the SERPs are almost identical with what they were for "keyword" before the update.

2. The popup update is an interstitials (not just popups) update that targets sites making it hard for users to access content when entering the site, especially on mobile devices these kinds of ads can be highly annoying. The official annoucement can be found here https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2016/08/helping-users-easily-access-content-on.html Exit popups, including chained popups, aren't affected at all. I love this update because I'm sick of the "Hey, why don't use our app instead of your browser" shit that used to be "best practice" to push app installs. Yelp is a great example for excessive usage of this method.

3. The times when you were able to rank sites in competitive niches in just a few days or weeks are over long ago. Everything slowed down for quite a time now, but PBN links didn't become less effective at all. So, if indexing now slows down, it may be the beginning of the PBN apocalypse, but I highly doubt it. Getting rid of PBNs is certainly one of the main goals of the webspam guys at Google, but remember the crush on ALN, BMR and other public networks in 2012? Sky is falling, PBNs are dead...and 4 years later they are still around and working perfectly. Why? Because they have to make sure there isn't too much collateral damage when penalizing something algorithmically.

^^^ That right there!

Cute, but that's not enough. If what's there in that article is all that Pbnhq uses to check the history of their domains, then I really feel sorry for their clients.
For once, I agree with you babe.

Google is seriously getting fucking strict. A few months ago I was able to get any website with good content indexed in G without any hesitation. Now, some sites with original lengthy content, including PBNs take time to get indexed. I manually create all of my t1 links so I have also noticed an increase in time it takes google to actually reward your site based on the date of link creation.

agree. things are moving slowly and I noticed another thing...after adding Infolinks to a site, the organic traffix dropped almost instantly. Google is really setting a dangerous precedent here.

Loved how the majority of the members which commented in this thread are OG's. Let's keep it up guys, teamwork for the win!

No, it isn't wrong because Google only seems to do it when you pick up a domain and build a website on it totally unrelated to the topic/niche it used to be. Picking up a wedding domain with amazing metrics and building a real estate PBN is the type of thing I'm talking about and yes, I do believe Google is cracking down on that here. If they rip away the links they remove the authority, and without authority a PBN is slow to index. It makes perfect sense.

Your theory seems make-sense but I thought it hard for Google to implement it. If make alone for domain name without content, how can they judge it to what niche? I am sure they are million domain that the name is not related to they content niche but it's quality website.

I indexed about 25 pbn domains last week. Between 1-4 days all of them got indexed by google. Content? Just a YouTube video and one sentence of text - to see if the domain will get indexed and is not penalized.

After they got indexed I made a normal HQ blogpost, also got indexed during the next 72 hours.

We have not had any problems, made about 30 pbn sites in the last week. Each one was indexed within minutes of sending to google

Anyone saw ranking drops?Any serp shake on sites which were using PBNs?

Yep. Lot's rankings dropped or not moving at all across 20 or so sites using PBN's. 100% private PBN's.

The problem with trying to figure out if SERP drops are due to using a PBN is that probably just about everyone here is using a PBN of one kind or another (myself included). It would be helpful if a whole bunch of people reported that "I'm NOT using a PBN and my SERPs [have or have not] dropped". But I don't think there are a lot of white hat SEOs around here to give that information. ;)
