Meta tags
Do the really work?

For me the answer is yes. Meta tags are great for search engine. All you need is a great keyword, and a description. So what do you think about meta tags?

Description, YES, use it.

Keywords are only valuable for Yahoo and MSN (maybe), but I always say, better to have them than to not have them.

description sure, its a must
keywords works for crappy se's (live mostly), yahoo doesnt seem to care so much, keep it short and sweet though, dont go spammy, 10 keywords is my normal max

It takes a minute to set up your meta tags so use them. However you can go without them if you are too lazy to spend a minute of your time adding them.

yeah, all the site that I use to own, I aways had a good and vivid keyword, and description.

description MUST suck the user in, dont keyword stuff it or any crap list that, give them something to make them want to click your link!

This is absolutely the main reason to use META tags. You can do A/B split testing just like you can do with PPC ads if you're savvy enough. Any place where you can control the appearance of your brand is a good place to spend time and energy.

I don't think they do because you can get by without them. However I still use them because it's better to be safe than sorry

description tags will bring in upto around 10x the users than not using them, dont underestimate them if you can offer something good in them! i cant stress this enough, know your target and word it accordingly!

problemly ever more :D

Meta tags still have a role, especially for improving click-through rates and helping search engines understand your page. Just make sure they’re relevant, natural, and supported by quality content.

I don’t think they’re necessary since you can manage without them, but I still use them because it’s better to stay safe than risk problems later.

Meta tags still matter, but mostly for improving CTR and helping search engines understand your page not as a direct ranking factor. Titles and descriptions done well can definitely boost clicks and visibility.

Meta tags still matter, but not in the way many think.

Title tags are very important for rankings, and meta descriptions help improve CTR, but they don’t directly boost rankings.

So yes, they work — mainly for visibility and clicks, not as a strong ranking factor.

Meta keywords don't work in 2026, focus on persuasive description and title.
