Guys, take note. Seems like facebook is forcing user to download install anti virus program to scan their system for malicious virus. There could be two possible reasons for this compulsory requirement. First, Facebook is genuinely concern about helping users to get rid of malicious virus. Or two, Facebook is trying to clamp down on marketers by profiling the computer identity used so that it can be easily cross reference for future facebook accounts. Once you install the antivirus program, alot of your system info can be pass on back to facebook easily without your knowledge. Seems like this is going to be tougher going forward for Facebook marketers.

It's just you bro. You got a malicious software on your pc (clicked on one of those porn posts) and FB can detect those things. Check your profile you probably spammed a link to your friends.

I remember my aunt getting this after she downloaded some chrome extension that was spreading like a virus, but it was a couple of years ago.

I am not sure this is new per se... I remember reading about people encountering this a year or so ago. Perhaps they are scaling it up but it has certainly been in existence for awhile... not that I agree with it since many people reported that they did the download and there was nothing found so def suspicious motives.

Edit - not definitely suspicious motives but the possibility of suspicious motives. The other explanation is that this microtrend or whatever it is called is crap compared to other scan programs.

This is not new. Have happened to a lot of my accs few months ago. Delete your cookies and check the accs to see if you got this some sort of malware check. They're thinking your PC have malware probably because of suspicious activity of your accs, spamming etc.

Well these accounts have been with me since 2008 and this is the first time that I am seeing this requirement for all the accounts. My main concern lies with installing a exe file that grants facebook access to my system virtually.

I had over 100 accs getting this block 1-2 months ago, and all my accs are 3-5 years old. Aged doesn't really matters I guess, but yeah it's somewhat new, I just found it out 2-3 months ago, not sure if it's been happening longer than that. I run accs on vps so no issue for me to install the exe file. I think it's just a tool to check malware though, didn't notice anything weird happens after I installed those files.

That is FB attempting to slow a "spammer" down... a couple of our accounts got that as well.

That is all it is doing; you may get a Kaspersky exe instead of the Trendmicro at times. Just run them and then deleted the DL after you run them.

FB will then allow you to log back in without an issue.

This is true, happens to me several times during past two years.

its legit, trendmicro is a well known security company, but their products aren't above average. i don't know why facebook would bundle it with their platform, but apparently TM and fb have a partnership.. its likely all about the $$$ since thats all trendmicro cares for. basically all security companies don't care if consumers are really secure otherwise they couldn't sell you shit so they actively run their fear mongering campaigns about stuxnet and DDoS attacks to take down the internet (ran by kids with a IoT botnet, but they say its nation states as that sounds better and makes for more hysteria in the media + convinces CEO's to shell out another 25k for another new firewall)

thats not new at all been around for ages now....just there is some shitty browser addon prob...try a clean browser like firefox

They don't need that to know exactly who you are, check "canvas fingerprinting" in wikipedia :)

I got this crap also two weeks ago after I logged in to Godaddy with my facebook account.Takes ages to scan and the live progress percent is broken

No worries FB marketers are bacteria, with time our host (facebook) and parasite (marketers) both becoming powerful and growing, this is ultimate war that ends with facebook but we than attack another social platforms
