I think you should visit their(hostwinds) site and contact the support through live chat, they are very quick to respond and are very helpful

Is the discount just good for the first payment? Or can you buy a service on a monthly payment and keep the discounted rate and for how long?

*EDIT The discount is good for up to 3 years but you have to purchase the discounted product at the beginning. So you basically have to pay for a year up front if you want a 75% discount. Still some pretty amazing deals and def a great opportunity to save some hosting costs.

I have used Hostwinds for several years now. Peter and his team have always taken the time to help me, from my first Level 1 VPS to my 50+ dedicated server cluster. I have used a lot of hosting companies over the years, but when it comes to protecting your paycheck and zero downtime, give these guys a shot. If you are doing something complicated, or if it needs special attention, talk to Peter, be direct on what you are trying to accomplish and he will get you sorted out.

Yes, you can change it on your existing services. When you upgrade shared hosting it takes affect, upgrade any tier on your VPS to a new tier and it takes affect and going from a VPS to a Dedicated server will allow you to take advantage of the discount.

If you purchase a completely new product then the discount will take affect for that product immediately.
