How can a niche website get good traffic

Newbie, new here, cool place.

Actually it's not a 'new' site but we recently focus on traffic.
See http://www.sudyapp.com/ (I add this link to my website but I'm not here for advertising, if website link break the rule kindly tell me I'll delete it) we have few UV and we've tried pressrelease sites, review sites, and many other sites to add backlinks, they just seemd less helpful? Why would that?
Is there any good trial that a niche market like us can do?

I've been here for just two days yet met nice ppl here, minded and have experience! That's awesome!

Thanks! You pointed some major problems, we know exactly who is our users but not sure where they are, it's like we know who we gonna target but we dont know how to let them see us...
And press release you mentioned, I'm afraid I can't give you more advice, sorry about that, I just buy a membership on PRBuzz, submit your press then they'll help with distribution, but I now not sure it would benefit for seo? Because I cant track all the backlinks they add, their distribution is automatic tho.

My colleague is in charge of social media, it seems hard to promote, maybe it's because we have a small market? Not sure.

We've been there before, but failed. Reddit wont let us advertising, will they? Or you mean display advertising like pop-up, banner, video, etc on Reddit?
Btw we tried Facebook once, and even give us permissions, maybe banned us already T. T

Ahh We've been there before, Facebook rejected us due to adult theme, we picked a wholesome image for dating ad not sure why they rejected us, maybe just the word 'sugar daddy'. And it won't work with Yahoo, too.

That's right, everyone told me social media, see this is the point. Thanks, but our biggest competitor did extremely great pr and seems that was the crux of matter to their success so... We just thought maybe it could help yet we haven't find a way to get proper use of pr.
