I posted that needed someone to help solve a html/css problem i was having. I'd usually get through it myself, but I thought I'd give the HAF a try.
I posted I'd pay $15 subject to the work being completed. I was contacted by BugThishhic on skype. He said he could do it. I said can we talk in voice he said yes he needed to get a coffee he was cold. I said sure. He said to call him 5 minutes later. I did, showed him the problem I was having, it took about 3 minutes it was fairly simple. He said he can have it fixed in 10 minutes.
He said he wanted £20 instead of $15. I said I thought $15 was fair for 15 minutes work.
He said ok sure, "can't blame me for trying". He was about to start, and then said to send him the $15. I said I'd usually do after it was completed, but he mentioned how he had been here since 2011. For $15 I thought fine I'll trust him. I asked him to post in my thread, he posted that he was looking forward to working with me. I asked him to edit it, to confirm he was taking money in advance he did. I sent him $15 via bitcoin. Then he immediately deleted his post in the thread...
I asked him why he deleted the post, he said he thought I sent the wrong amount, then realised I had sent the right amount. I asked him if he was going to do the work, he said yes he's looking at the code...
10, 20, minutes past. I enquired how it was going, I got no reply.
45 minutes later I advised him i didn't have much longer, if he couldn't do the work just send the $15 back that would be fine. He replied 'I'll keep it'.
I told him i'll post a shitlist thread, and would not wait the '72' hours as he's already admitted he's stealing the $15. He asked me if i had any more work for him and winked.
A useful lesson, I've had decent experiences in the forums since I joined, and was a bit less cautious than i should have been. It might save me money in the long run as i'll do the due diligence in future. It does mean I wont be posting any small work again here though, as I wont have the time to properly vet people for small half hour jobs.
Anyway i'm posting this in case he tries it again with someone. His account is from 2011, not sure why he hasn't been caught before, he seemed very comfortable stealing my money and not thinking twice about it.

[20:46:49] BHW-HICK: just reading over code.
[20:47:13] Always Today: ok
[21:06:25] Always Today: how's it looking do you think you'll be able to handle it ok
[21:20:31] Always Today: hello?
[21:25:58] Always Today: I haven't got much longer, you said it'd take you 10 minutes, let me know what's going on, if you can't do it, let me know and i'll give you a wallet to ship the money back to, it's no big deal
[21:51:40] BHW-HICK: ill keep it.
[21:52:45] Always Today: OK i'll go post a shitlist thread now, seems no need to wait the customary 72 hours, as you've already admitted your intention to steal. A shame, I hope you find a better solution to making money in the near future, good luck
[21:53:10] BHW-HICK: give me a job then.
[21:53:14] BHW-HICK: anything else u need doing.
