Yeah, it depends on the specs that you need. Choosing the right VPS depends on your website's traffic. If your website has a low traffic then it may continue to run well on a low budget or cheap Hosting. But once your website acquires decent traffic and outgrows the capacity of your shared hosting (which is the cheap one) then that's the perfect time to go for a VPS hosting. This is a bit cheaper compared to dedicated hosting and a bit pricey compared to shared hosting (not that pricey, it's still affordable). Before you pick a server, know the needs and the requirements of your website first and be careful in choosing the right one that suits your preferences. Thank you guys for taking time to comment here , Almost everyone mentioned about site requirement , actually i dont have much knowledge about servers .
Currently im on Hostgator Shared hosting but it sucks , When i get decent traffic say 100 online users it gets down this is why im looking for VPS or Dedicated .
im more toward VPS server because its cheaper than Dedicated and i heard it can handle decent amount of users on site .
Regarding Requirements , Well i dont know what requirements i want all i can say i want something better than Hostgator's Shared Hosting .
Bandwidth is not an issue as i can use CDN77 or any other service , all i want it wont get down as im going to start a startup and i dont want people to face downtime but in future if i feels like i need something better i would jump to Dedicated Server .
But if you ask me what i want , then i would go for RAM more than 2GB and CPU 2 or more . But to be honest as i said i have no idea about all this . Im saying 2GB RAM and 2 cpu because i think it will not go down easily and make my site run faster .
I have also browsed the marketplace here , found many good sites with nice prices but the problem is i never heard about such hosting services so im bit uncomfortable in using them .

Windows is typically for running tools and Linux is for hosting your website.
Sounds like you just need a better hosting package not a VPS.

Thank you xD so i will go with linux .
Moreover i was just browsing some site and they are asking me to choose OS ... ( again confusing , they are offering Cent Os , Linux , Debian , Ubuntu etc )
I have a question , does it matter if i choose 32bit or 64bit ? i dont think so because i wont be running any tools . right ?
and i want to go for VPS because i fed up of shared hosting , i thought of choosing cloud hosting but again its on Shared plan and i need 6-7 unique IP on my hosting which shared plan doesnt offer . they offer only 1 unique IP address. So yeah this is the reason for VPS or dedicated , so i could host another sites on same server with unique IP address

Thank you Grego , Basically i will be running simple website ( viral content site like buzzfeed diply etc ) which fetches content from database and perform sql operations and nothing else . Does RAM matters when it comes to such site ?

depends on the websites code and traffic, but i think 1gb ram would be ok. you can upgrade it with most providers almost instantly without any or minimal downtime.

Ah Thanks XD i was looking for RAM more than 2GB, i thought 1GB RAM is low
I will go with 1GB RAM plan , if everything will work good then ok or else i will upgrade

Recommending @HostStage but be careful looking for cheapest servers because it will come back to bite you.

ha! instead of "a cheap vps" you should ask for "a reliable vps" because you'll get what you pay for!
