Hey guys So I have a method Idea and wanted to know if its a go or a no go.

sorry I lied 2 methods lol

1 - Okay so I only have money for a domain name and hosting. I wanted to make a local news blog and facebook fan page. ive noticed that if you use Hashtags you basically get free traffic and page views.
So I planned on posting articles and pictures daily. Pictures that can go viral since i have no money for traffic..

What do you think ??

2 - Now the second method. A LOCAL Niche related site. For example, like.... Dallas Texas Weight lifters
having a facebook page for the local area going to the main site and capturing emails

I think the idea for local news is not so cool. You should go for international news or usa news update it daily.There are automatic sites now a days that are updated daily on latest news ( i can build you one at reasonable price)

If you want bodybuilder concept than make a dropshipping site it will get you good money.

I agree with @Web Expert, local news is so overrated. Not many towns or cities that you could cover which will bring you enough traffic. I would concentrate more on international news, especially news regarding the mess going on in the middle east. You could easily get more traffic from that. Good luck, and there is nothing with stupid with asking.

I think the second one. Research a popular niche and one that you can get enthusiastic about and then just go for it via FB groups etc.

Sure it's small but that means you can handle it on zero budget and also you can use a free asset - yourself - to directly connect with ppl via social media - so you can get out as much as you can put in, no costs involved.

If it works then you can use the Rev to invest in something of bigger scale.

it depends on where you live and the population and demographic. I lived in a town with 5000 people and started a news/community blog.

I'd go to local events, take pictures, write about stuff going on. Took scenic pictures, wrote a monthly calendar of events etc etc.

Two years of this and I was getting people wanting to advertise their homes for rent and groups would sent press releases.

I did a local bus schedule page showing how to get there, did a business listing etc

Now it's 3 years since I moved from that town but the site gets constant traffic and adsense money gets made every day. The site ranks high in Google images and the bus schedule is the number one result on Google for people seeking the town. The site has links from Wikipedia because the site has a history of the town page I wrote.


It's a good idea in the right market and more hands on than trying to compete with big news and world events. you get to do writing and photography and in my case, in the town I lived in, there was no local online coverage because the newspapers and TV all reported the big news from major cities and around the world.

It was fun doing it because it was about the place I lived and now that I've moved it's still bringing in residual income with adsense with zero work. It wasn't my main money site but was a fun side project that allowed me to connect with my town. Now I'm gone it's like a history of my life there and I get monthly adsense from it!
