Whois protection or fake info?

I was wondering if it's okay to provide a registrar with a fake personal information, or maybe it would be safer to overpay a few bucks and get the complete whois protection?

I would really appreciate if someone could recommend a good registrar (security wise), as I don't really want other people to sneak into my personal information.

I know, but it doesn't really bother me as I'm not going to do anything blackhat. Basically, I just want to hide my real info from my direct competitors.

My registrar charges an additional $3.5 yearly for whois protection. Not sure how much you're requested to pay on your end, but it's truly worth it either way. If you're ever caught providing fake information, well, I can only picture bad things happening. If you, for example, registered your domain for 5 entire years and paid in advance, you would be in quite some trouble - as you can lose your right to access the services of that registrar, your domain and even your money. Stay safe and don't be afraid to spend a few more bucks - it'll be worth it.

Why you saying such a lies.. google will see you from google maps cameras from universe and check what you type on your keyword!!!!
Stop being paranoic.

Use fake info and pay with your paypal. There are many folks who do this and they do this for 2,3,5,10 years and noone ever asked about ID/check/confirmation.

For some of the websites use fake info, buy sometime whois protection and put some domains on registars like namesilo and you will be more than OK ;-)
Don't be paranoic and keep going don't let others slow you down coz this is where you will loose.

I think you should pay more few bucks to get the whois guard protection, godaddy and namcheap will be your best choice with whois protection for the 1st year as very cheap.

Its up to you to decide. Majority of the member here will tell you to go for the whois protection and as you see above you have been recommended some cheap sources.

Register with a real info on your registrar, then change the contacts of the domain to someone else or using fake whois. That's what I always do.

Otherwise you can use Namesilo as your registrar as they provide free whois.

+1 for Namesilo. Whois protection deserves to be a free add-on. And these guys provide it free for life. Btw.. I use a mix of both (fake info and Whois protection) for my PBNs. Never had a problem with fake info. Sometimes, when you use a fake name and then use a diff cc to pay, they mail you about possible fraud. Just tell them that you are an SEO agency and you are registering the domain for your client.

Use real information and whois protection. You can't buy domain or confirm your ownership if use fake.
