my father this morning yelled to my mom "there is no coffee left" 5 mins later he got a text saying "no coffee?"

this isn't the only weird thing

a month back i texted my dad to grab some pizza for me - i then got a text back from a random number saying the same thing to me that i said to my father. We then conversed, i asked who they were and they pretended they didn't know what was happening and that they never sent that message to me but I (yes me) sent it to them.

in my kitchen we have a phone and it always says like daily "please enter remote access code" (in a voice) but i asked my dad and he said no1 ever checks the land line messages.

Since i have unplugged all phones.

anyone have an idea how this could be?and what can i do to prevent this further? change IP etc? and im not being paranoid btw.

i think my father did something not safe with this TV (connected via Wifi) or something unsafe with his phone or emails. Hes the type of guy to get called by microsoft and allow them to remotely access his computer thinking they are going to fix a non existent virus.

It a prank from someone who got your's and dad number work it out , see who on your phone list and dad phone list match it , then you no who it is or could be.......

Post back if we are rightm

It not mi5, css, police......

How would that make sense tho? They knew EXACTLY what i texted my dad month ago. They HEARD my dad talk to my mother and 5 mins later texted him. He also got a phone call he said the other day from a random guy just "talking".. he said the guy was just talking non stop and he said he told the guy he cant talk anymore and hung up. it was someone he didnt know. I really don't think it is a prank tho.

To actually get a bit paranoid. months back like even late 2015 a car with tinted windows (happened on at least 3 occasions i am aware of) pulled up near my house and jsut sat there for like 5 mins. EVERY TIME and i mean EVERYIME i saw them i thought they had something pointed towards my house so i would pull the internet cable out of the walll to turn off the internet, and they EVERY TIME would drive away and leave. This happened like clock work. Unplug the internet, they leave. 3 times

I do not think it is police because they wouldn't expose themselves like that.

There are apps that you can install on phones and read their texts or even open the phone mic to listen or use the camera...

If this is true, why aren't you contacting the local authorities instead of going on BHW to tell the story?
well im sure they couldnt do anything about it. i call it the dogma fallacy. ppl think authorities can solve anything. like hey "call the cops, they'll fix it" - 3 days later they tlel u they cant because all the numbers are burner phones and all the IPs are pinging off 1,0000 servers.
but seriously im asking for ways to prevent access. ie changing IP, etc.

Check first if it is rooted.
If not, check apps that are installed.
Check also battery activity to see consumption.

If it is not rooted, you can safely make a factory reset.

So even though they may be able to do something, your not because of stereotypical stuff you saw in movies?

how do u check it its routed? and what exactly do u mean by that.

This seems very similar to that thread in 2014, where a guy was claiming pretty much the same thing.
