I got scammed on PayPal

How can they match the correct hash code to the correct password? If they don't know the actual un-encrypted passwords and all they have are md5-s, then if I tell them I used password X in the past and I have changed my password 5 times in the last year, how can they match password X with the correct md5 between those 5 codes that they have? It doesn't make sense.
because md5 is one way which is why its so secure
let's say your pass you entered is
Thunder
the md5 =
5c7686c0284e0875b26de99c1008e998

then they simply check if that string exists in the db where your 5 md5 hashes are stored
if its a match then you win
they dont need to know the actual unencrypted pass this way or even convert it

It would be best to do a phone call to PayPal and talk not to an agent but a supervisor. It speeds up the process. The person will have some good points to share with you. Emailing PayPal will take much time to get resolved. Call them during office hours, US time zone. Hope it helps.

I was able to get my money back on PayPal for a transaction, I used their online dispute process. I stated that the buyer did not follow through with what was promised and wouldn't reply to my email request (I think this was a deciding factor for PayPal). PayPal kept me up to date in the process, it took about a week but they refunded my money.

Thanks everyone.

I contacted PayPal about this and they're willing to help. I'll call them today and let's see how it works out.

Reset the email password and then reset the IG password.
I do remember when I created the account (month, year). But he should've already changed the recovery mail and the phone number on it. Can I still recover it?

1. Pull up at his house and teach him a lesson hell never forget. or 2. Hire Someone on Tor to screw his whole life up.

I think PayPal has modified the invoice. My first invoice was for 1 500 AUD and now it says 3 000. What can be wrong with it?

Hmm.

If they modified the invoice they can say he didn't pay the entire amount and go after him.

If they modified the invoice.

If they did, I straight up wouldn't worry about it. Seriously. Just take what you can get at this point.

Edit: What I mean is they can't generate a hash code without knowing the un-encrypted password in the first place.
They only hash your password when you register or change it. Then when you login, they hash what you entered and check if the hashes match(not really, they don't use MD5, probably BCrypt or something similar).
So... they don't know your password, only its hash, which in fact corresponds to your password. They store hashes of your previous passwords - this way they can check if you've used some password in the past.

Here's the picture of it.

The one that shows paid was for 1 500 AUD but now the amount due is 3 000 AUD.

Like I said, don't worry about it.

If they modified it it's because they can now go after him for the full account. If they said they were going to help you and this is their method of doing it, then just let it ride.

In other news I will never sell an account through PP.

Well, did you try resetting it? Maybe he hasn't. Otherwise contact Google and claim that your account got hacked (for the love of God, don't be honest this time like with IG and tell Google that you sold the account as that's not allowed anyway). Honestly, I don't think Google will give a shit, but if you insist (maybe call them?!), you might get lucky. You have nothing to lose and 1500 AUD to gain, so I would try that as well if I were you.

You might get paid but dont exspect any speed over the matter paypal are known to be so slow doing anythink they go buy rules

If the money gone inyo paypal you on a winner
But the sender might try to dispute it.

1 to 2 months some cases

As long as the ig account was not illegal contant , your be ok , but like i say it all takes time .......

OP, you are fucked, move on.
Selling IG accounts is against IG ToS, IG and paypal won't help you with this.
The only option might be to contact IG claiming your account was hacked.
Actually they will help, I contacted paypal after I got scammed over some small account, 25$
I got the money back.

I've sent messages using the Message Center and I think they're not receiving them. Did you call them to solve the problem?

If you have linkedin, I've had luck with contacting one of their executive support specialists directly.

I just checked and he uses the original email address which I can reset. If I gain access to my account, he'll definitely contact Instagram about it. What are the chances of him gaining the access back? Like, if he took screenshots of me giving him the passwords and showing them proofs that he bought the account.

heres how you will make him pay for you or he will lose the account
you simply tell him if he don't pay the other half of the money you will contact instagram telling them that your email was hacked and your instagram after it , and the one who hack it removed your number from the account .... as long you have the old number you still can fuckup his account ...

I can easily gain access by reseting the original gmail. I'm more concerned if he contacts Instagram too and if he regain access. Then I loose both, the money and the account.

The chances are zero. IG will reply them back (if they even bother to do that) with a cold email saying they can't help him just as they did with you. Just do it man!
