Facebook Advertising - Any Luck?

Has anyone had luck with FB advertising? So far I see that there are more negatives than positives when it comes to facebook advertising. I would like to get the opinions of those that have dived into that realm already and have the experience on this subject. Was it good or bad for you? Would you recommend it? If there are reputable threads that you can point out that would be appreciated as well.

Well it's certainly a Yay! A lot of people are banking hard though I myself failed because of a limited budget (very very limited)

Facebook is the best for advertising. You can target people you really want and it's cheap.
Plus, your ad comes right in front of people face. If something is written, they will read it. If they like it, they will like it, and it's free advertising from there

Facebook ads are NOT cheap, you pay between 10 to 50 cents per like for USA and Canada traffic, other countries are cheaper, but I personally have no use for fans outside USA and Canada, I have 120k fans across two pages which I paid $0 for, and they are very valuable because they are all USA and Canadian, and have earned me $45k in the last 6 months.

The best way is to never buy Facebook likes, they are all fake, create great content at the right time and hope it goes viral.

I have a page too, and surprisingly, if you have 100 people and you post 2 funny pictures a day, it grows. Just post the maximum content you can so they can Like/Comment/Share so other people see your page

I own two travel-related fan pages with 13.000 and 5000 fans and I have to say it's quite hard to grow, I manage to achieve a 100 fan / week each growth posting no less than 4-5 pics / links daily.

I'm having much more luck with Adwords Display ads to drive traffic to my website (0,03 CPC vs. 0,10/0,20 CPC on Fb)

I've been playing with FB ads for over 5 years, and 90% of the time make a positive ROI.

Niche selection is crucial as with any platform, and I tend to stay away from the big money niches, as they have to many rules and competition.

That being said, you can still get cheap clicks in these niches if you know how to target properly. My advice would be split test locations and age.

I spend about $60 or so over a little bit of time and I didnt see the results I wanted.. but I am not a pro at harvesting immense credit from ads

I wasn't even aware you could Split Test on Facebook Ads. As in, showing your ads 50/50 between 2 sets of criteria and seeing which performs the best.

Very worth it, start messing around with small budgets to get use to the platform and its targeting and pixels. You can make a very good living there. Though it does have its hurdles and roadblocks when trying to scale. Most people use multiple accounts or business managers with reps. If this is a serious business your advertising on behalf of and nothing too 'shady' may be worth it to contact a rep directly to get some guidance. (sign up for business manager, should be a chat box or phone number to call to get started)

Yes, Facebook is one of the powerful tools in wide reach. If you provide cache advertisement you will surely get positive results.

I don't fully understand it, I put my tracking cookie in my landing page for after you buy something and I put money towards $1-5/day for web conversion ads for sales...

They still charged me and I don't have any sales.

It would be too easy if they charge only if you sell something. They charge you everytime your ad is up there ...
But yes, I find this strange, I don't understand very well FB advertising but I made a lot of money thanks to it. To be fair, I never advertised in other ways.

What would you consider to be a small budget? Couple hundred? or a few..
Do you think that an affiliate site would do well? Authority site, not just a micro niche site. I created a brand basically and plan to take over the niche.

I would never buy likes. I'm referring to advertising sites not pages. Screw facebook likes. It's been proven they scam the crap out of people with their likes.

I find that for some, FB works, others it does not. I don't give a fuck about likes on my fanpage. Why? Their advertised likes are fake, the traffic is not. So as far as FB traffic, yes I have had luck on it, but only if I put out high end quality content for my customers. People think cheap clicks, awesome ROI. I know people that post this shit are noobs because a cheap click is a worthless click. Anything for USA and other top tier buying countries is not cheap. I'm dealing with ecommerce sites so for me FB does fine, only after I learned the ropes.

I don't use Fb Ads for page likes, I use them for posts and links but since my business is based on affiliate travels it's hard for me to get a good ROI since commissions are low and selling a travel online is quite hard
