[Chapter #1] SEO Basics – What it is and how to get started!

I totally agree with you mate, but one thing to remember is that this is just the 1st chapter. I mean, if people were to read the whole index, they would see there still 5 chapters left with VALUABLE info! ;)

Just because the first thread is not as good as the others will be, doesn't mean everything is going to be crap :D

Agree with what most people have said here. Nothing wrong with reputation management/promoting your blog SO LONG as your content is useful.

Shitty content > promoting your blog/BST/image = never goes well on BHW.

Quality content > promoting your blog/BST/image = perfectly fine in my opinion so long as you're providing value and people are genuinely finding your posts useful. The only people I've seen in the past few weeks who have been providing genuine value with their constant posts are t0mmy and lightningblitz. Even if they were promoting a blog or trying to increase their "rep/image" - it doesn't matter. They're providing actual value so it all cancels out in my opinion.

There's a difference between writing garbage posts just for the sake of directing traffic to a blog as opposed to writing quality content and trying to drive some traffic to your blog.

@Roy - my suggestion would be to just put everything into 1 thread but split them into different posts for each chapter. So in the original post you can have the first chapter and then you can create a 2nd post on the same thread with the 2nd chapter and so on. When someone wants to ask you a question they could just quote the chapter and you would instantly know what they're talking about.

Or you could post it thread by thread but make sure each thread has value. Whatever you choose to do, all the best. :)

I understand. I look forward to hopefully reading some awesome stuff from you soon :)

Looks like reputation management to me, similar to what t0mmy does. Post a load of articles on the forum to get your name out there and gain trust for your BST.

Thats the only thing I can come up with for it.

Does t0mmy have a BST? I thought it was just newbies paying him to use his name like a franchise lol. I swear whenever a legit poster has a BST there is some random "partner" nobody has ever heard of who signed up 2 months ago and who is almost certainly the real service provider. Oh I forgot about Speed Rank though, I think that might legit be his.

It's pretty cut-throat for new forum users because they are just going to see that these guys have a great rep and think their service is going to be incredible then slap down $500 plus per month on a package. Then the newbie "partner" provides "services" while the guru just markets it and says "great to have you on board!" in the thread. You need to be SEO streetwise to avoid such pitfalls.

hahahaha I was thinking the exact same thing tbh mate but I didnt want to bring it up and face the heat of that as well as trying to get the newer guys to understand that so far this whole project is a publicity stunt.

I remember Roy from the GSA forum, where he was selling some garbage PDF for $200 a few years back. This time is different though I'm sure :D

Not sure why my name is being thrown around in this thread, would appreciate if it wasn't.

Fwiw every service of mine has been mine, or I've owned a percentage. I employ link builders, I have connections with editors and bloggers, I have support staff, even one of my best friends irl works for me. Setting this all up is not rocket science lads when you've been doing it for half a decade and once set up it usually runs pretty smoothly, which leaves me free to manage the marketing.

In fact the only thing I've ever promoted here for a 3rd party - SERPWoo, which is because it's a great tool I believe in and CCarter is a very smart dude that I admire. I know it's a common thing, but not with myself.

I'm not a franchise. I won't stick my name to any old crap, mainly because I prefer to have control. Please don't undermine my accomplishments by assuming otherwise.

If you wish to discuss my business affairs further feel free to shoot me a PM, rather than hijacking this thread.

Now that's out of the way I'll get back to work, you can all get back to the gossiping or what ever this is.

@royserpa: Best of luck with the threads. Follow through and finish this.. I'll check back for updates :)

I never read the guide, but I find the negative feedback it received credible. For those who are interested, it's titled "Roy's Brand-New Churn and Burn Methods!" for your searching needs :)

Oh for fucks sake. You're a proper dumbass apparently, because if you'd have something other than shit for brains you'd know better than to try and throw dirt on Tommy.

Not commenting on the quality of this SEO guide here, but if you're referring to Jack "dumbass" Torrance's comment about Tommy with your "thinking the exact same thing", then you probably have shit for brains as well.

for fucks sake guys, this is a seo guide not a thread to bitch about others or whatever.

next chapter, onpage seo, is coming soon so stay tuned.

im kinda thinking about not sharing anything as people are too "bitchy" but we'll see how next couple of chapters do.

They will change their mind If the next chapter isn't crappy.

Well if people were to read the index, they would see this is the first chapter ffs.

People are too bitchy as i dont post everything in 1 thread lol.

I believe OP isn't up to any shady tactics. I also believe he has some very good info to share which I can't wait for. However why don't you just roll it all out in one kick ass post that people can use as a reference and not bouncing around over a bunch of different posts. It could be a very epic thread in my opinion, that is if you are giving away all your secrets as you say you are. Will be watching for sure.

Roy I would particularly not take much advice and certainly not let the all talk no action town drunks change your course. You have nothing to worry about and this place needs more contributors.

Plan your work and work your plan.

It's funny because people complain there aren't enough members sharing on the forum in the last year or so.

And when someone does eventually share something, they either:

a) say it's useless (which is understandable)
b) say it's self promotion
c) say they're only doing it to direct traffic to a blog/BST
d) or some other BS

So what else do you expect? No wonder people don't share stuff anymore. With what some of the guys have said above > you can only share useful posts if you're not a BST seller/blog owner/SEO? What kind of BS is that? Who cares if it's a "publicity stunt". If you're gaining value from the thread, then that's the purpose fulfilled. Now whether or not you want to check out someones BST/blog or whatever is up to you.

If someone has just posted an in-depth, useful guide on a topic and they want to add a small link to their blog or add a banner in their signature linking to their BST.. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. No one is forcing you to click on that link/signature banner.

Too many people these days sit behind a screen and criticise others for not doing something and when they DO actually end up doing it, they find other bullshit reasons to counter attack. @Roy - just focus on your next few posts being quality and actually giving value or you're just going to get the same bunch of people attacking you again :)

I have never complained, there is plenty shared. For some reason people are usually looking at the wrong part of the forum for it.

You are correct that there is nothing wrong with that, my point is that the OP has made two useless posts that offer nothing at all but both link back to his blog. So by your own standards of the post having to be "in-depth, useful guide on a topic" to warrant a link back to a blog or BST you admit and agree the OP is in the wrong....

My comment wasn't relating to t0mmy but other popular people on the BST I was simply agreeing with the suspicion that it happens. That being said I do remember a thread a while back about t0mmy using his name to launch the doge service BST and now not having anything to do with it or something never paid much attention to it at the time as I was using a twist on his parasite method and at the time was working for me.

Not sure why my name is being thrown around in this thread, would appreciate if it wasn't.

I started it, I compared what I believe to be the OPs rep management/forum branding strategy to your own. It wasnt meant as anything personal to you or in a negative way. I could have put lightningbliz' name in there as he is also doing a good job using a similar strategy just yours sprung to mind first as I have used your services/methods in the past.

Some of the threads t0mmy has put up get questions from all sorts of little niche angles and he replies yet the thread still works.

See, same thread just a few posts further down the page :).

This was rather uncalled for, I think. Just by reading through some of t0mmy's posts, you can tell immediately that he's a guy who knows what he's talking about, and wouldn't stick his name on any old crap for a quick buck. I have the utmost respect for him and what he does.

You on the other hand, seem like an ass clown, and I'll be sure to avoid any possible BSTs you stick your name on in future.

Edit: Sorry to hijack the thread OP, I'm looking forward to the next guide.
