Laptop or Desktop?

I have a laptop, I used it for 3 weekends in 2015 while away at trade events.....

Total waste of money - desktop FTW

I was always a desktop guy..

Last year I bought a powerful Macbook Pro. Now I just have a monitor, mouse and keyboard setup at home. I can operate just as a desktop and also just pop the connections and bring my laptop away with me to go mobile.

It's really handy as I don't need to sync files or manage two development environments.

This approach is decent as I don't really play games anymore and don't require that extra oomph that I can really only get from a desktop.

desktop. Comfort + the place you work for is always at that special corner, have all things at my desktop and much more comfortable working with the desktop than laptop.

Always wanted to know what my fellow bhwers work with all day. Laptops or desktops?

Whats good for working on long hours, 12 to 14 hours a day?

Shoulder gets fucked if I work on the laptop for that long every day. Got a nice imac too but thats constant sitting in front of a desk all day and that fucks up my knees, no freedom to move around.

I prefer Desktop PC over laptop, I am more comfortable with a PC.

I started with a desktop but then moved to laptop. Laptop offers more freedom as you can work anywhere you want. On the other hand, with desktop you get stuck to a specific place. I am not really a fan of sitting at the same place for long hours.

Laptop(ALIENWARE 17) + cooling fan + wireless keyboard/mouse, it done the trick.
Can online 12-20hr non stop and playing game with zero problem (for moment).

I prefer laptop than desktop due to easy to clean up, move around (i called it portable desktop since the size really big and havy with 17'inc.)

For travel I use ASUS zenbook.

Back in the day, I always liked Alienware but since they were taken over by DELL I haven't been too sure of them. Been thinking of getting an Alienware laptop for my Son, are they still decent gaming machines?

Yes, but it depend on the spec that you choose.
Latest GC is GTX980.

And for design I gave 5/5 compare to other gaming laptop.

Overall it just perfect machine for me, for gaming and I.M work.

Laptop or Desktop?

I'm also in this dilemma. All the posts are helpful. However, I would say look at your life-style and make a decision.
Are you always on the go? Do you enjoy travel? Having a laptop is great because of its mobility. Are you student? Do you stay in apartment? or pay rent? I would go with laptop. it's just so convenient to work on and move.

If you are more settled down and or have your own house, I would go with desktop.

I tend to travel at least twice a month. However if we are talking about comfort... nothing beats a desktop with 2 monitors.

You can't bring a desktop with you when you travel the world. Laptops all the way. :)

I personally like the portability given by the laptops and, thus, I bought myself a Macbook Air Dec 2014 and I'm so delighted with it. Previously, I had an Acer 2013 i3 with a nice video card, but it was total bulsh*t. Of course, if you need a computer for designs and gaming all day, then go for a nice desktop. The only problem I'm having with my macbook is that there are some BHW Softwares that I can't test.

P.S: Alienware is overpriced, yeah.

Desktop: Love best for work for long time and you can setup a Cool Chair with backcare etc on it and you are good to do.

Laptop: Is good for work in Traveling ONLY i prefer for it else all the time use Desktop ;)
